Most racers have a favorite track, but if you have a favorite corner, how about sharing which one and why?

Fark so many to choose from.
T1 at HD is awesome - very fast, blind drop off into right hander.
T2 and T3 - right left over crest, front wheel gets light - bloody cool. Probably my favourite section of any track.
The esses at Teretonga. Great place to overtake round the outside.

Race tracks need more trees on corners I say.

Got to be turn 3 at HD.
Had both wheels let go on the 250 and held it all togehter on my knee..... The biggest moment I have ever had on a motorcycle without crashing.. Yes, I was bloody close to crashing, but loved the moment.
Love turn 3 at Manfeild.
Riding around the outside of Aaron Hassen on his Ninja 250R through there at Round 1 of the Bridgestone VMCC cemented how quick I am on that corner....

T1 @ Brands Hatch (Paddock Hill) like T1 at Hampton downs but faster and about 4/5 times steeper decsent .... after your stomach has settled it gets a bashing as you bottom everything out at the bottom then the run up the hill to druids (right hand hairpin).............. awesome start to your lap.

In no particular order:
The old esses past the pits at the original Taupo circuit. But now removed.
Southern Loop Phillip Island
Lukey Heights Phillip Island
Siberia Phillip Island
Pukekohe Short Circuit sweeper and hairpin (now also defunct)
Eau Rouge / Raidillion @ Spa Francorchamps (how big are your danglies!) and such a famous bit of track.
Blanchimont @ Spa (double the size of your danglies that you need for Eau Rouge!), think 5th/top gear sweepers on higher than Puke gearing.
Taupo original circuit, the left off the main straight. 2nd gear wheelstands as it comes up off your knee, down hill to the hairpin!
Ruapuna old circuit: First left after the hairpin (is still there now I think, but I don't know what it's called).
Nothing at New Taupo or HD. Prefer Puke over both circuits.

+1 from me.
The best corner in racing for me is turn 11 at Instanbul...160mph in top gear for the truly insane.
Check it out,its the corner preceding De Angelis' banzai move on Barbera...

Very cool turn, and yes you can. On a 999s Ducati, and on an RF900 at the very least. I could not quite though on the 180+ horse, K6.

First proper corner on the cliffhanger hill climb, then first right hander on Manfield extension, Splash (lots hate it), Left hander coming off extension onto the old circuit manfield and last but not least, from turn one through to the hair pin at Taupo.

my top 3 of my limited experience:
Turn 7 at Taupo..... was LB's too :)
Dunlop at Manfeild..... I love scraping everything while rolling on the throttle and gritting my teeth!
Turn 1 at Hampton Downs..... soo much fun flying down the hill accelerating hard past the concrete wall :)

+1 Also turn one at the cliffhanger, shoulder being whipped by the long grass, even an old coot like me can be Joey Dunlop for a few seconds :) (dont get my kneee down though:))
Left hander coming back onto the main track from the extension at Manfeild, turn one at HD, scared the shit out of me the first few times, but cool once get a bit used to it, not many blind downhill corners that I like !!!
Oh yeah turn one/two at Manfeild (Its almost one corner)

T1 @ Brands Hatch (Paddock Hill)
+1. I'd also add T1 at Eastern Creek in Sydney
In NZ, It would have to be the fast left hander at Taupo - T8 I think or Dunlop at Manfeild.

26th July 2012, 23:39
dunlop at manfeild, difficult corner if your not aggressive on entry you get passed but easy to run wide in middle of corner. also last three corners at taupo, lots of options for passing on either side.

The entire infield of Roy's Hill in Hastings (Kart Track). It can be taken as one corner; cool.
Next is everything uphill of the bridge at the Cliffhanger, all full throttle on 400 and scary as all hell.

Definitely turn 1 at Brands Hatch and Down through the dip.
Best track for me is Donnington from turn 1 through Craner Curves then scrape everything through The Old Hairpin (that's not a hairpin) up the hill, pass everyone through the right hander at the top of the hill and then brake for Coppice that you can't see because of the rise in front of you. I'm getting a rise just thinking of it. As I said, the whole track is wicked!!! Think I should go back to watch IOM TT and do a few more laps at Donnington....

Donington is an awesome circuit. Not a bad corner on it (old circuit that is) Also love the old Oulton Park for the elevation and blind crests...and the banked hairpin.
And every corner on the Nurburgring.......... unless some car driver is trying to sneak up the inside.

Final turn at hampton downs,
A dab of brakes, tip it in and open the throttle. Best corner in NZ for pulling awesome powerslides once the rear tyre had gone off.

T1 Pukekohe, no contest (well, for NZ circuits anyway).
Flat out, blind, no camber, not so much run off, into a short flowing section.
Round the outside of another rider, leaning on them, priceless.
Not the safest, but if you don't get wood over that one you need your head read.

At Puke, I prefer over the hill. Mad as balls required to make a move round the outside, zero runn off, or visibility.

In my limited puke experience, I like the one before that, flat out in third, full lean and looking straight at the end of the pit wall not too far away. Scares the shit outta Me (had a mate die there a few years back....) but is really fun at the same time.

Don't sell yourself short, what fills the knickers is when you think you're gonna die and grab the brake, as Sherriffs, Stroudy, or Sloan go whoring past you WFO.

Wasn't those guys but one of my funniest moments racing was thinking I was getting in late on the brakes, grab a handful, just as a mate goes past me hooking another gear.....makes you feel real mortal!:killingme

The corner just before the hairpin at Paeroa has always made my sphincter do odd things.
In theory the bikes just settled down after being airborne, it's blind, fast and you know as soon as you get around you've got to brake .... very very hard !

The hill at puke. Passing slow cunts round the outside is a blast, except when they wise up to you and run you into the weeds at 100mph.
Also turn 1 at puke, the bumps from the horse poo makes things interesting. Especially with little to no suspension and rubber bands for tires.

reminds me of an incident back in UK. I was at a track day at Snetterton... T1 is a fast right hander. I had been getting later and later on the brakes all day (or so i thought) last session i thought i had left it too late and was having a "oh F**K moment...when Jamie Whittam came past me still tapped out in 6th.... to make that corner you had to brake and change down at least one gear...he hadnt done either yet!!!!!!!!! I made it and by the time i had composed myself he was around T2 and out of sight.
Humbled and in awe..............
