If you're coming here on a tourist Visa be careful about speaking about working while you're here. If you are coming on a working holiday Visa and you're qualified in working with heavy machinery then your skills are very sought after here at the moment - most of our qualified heavy diesel mechanics have left to work in Australia where the mines offer much better pay.

Heaps, my G/F for one. A really, really good butchery has just opened down the road. The owner is a Master Butcher from Berlin so if you are missing your Bier Schinken & Curry wurst let me know.

@ Sabine thank you for this offer. The first 7 day I'm in the backpackers Base in Queenstreet, but I can get my bike earliest on the 15. September so maybe I come and visit ;-)
I have a work and travel visit so its not a problem to work. I had a 3years education as a industrymechanic so now I can repair an handle many machines ;-)
Currywust and Bierschinken :D I'm sorry I don't like any meat. I'm a vegetarian.
I'm a little bit shocked that there are so many germans :D

Hallo und willkommen in Kiwibiker.
Yes, Germans are everywhere here. I was rock climbing with some last night (instead of going to the SASS group). I've met Germans while out kitesurfing too. My boyfriend also happens to be half German, but he has a love/hate relationship with the country. Generally Germans come out here on holiday and fall in love with the country and not want to return to the Fatherland. ;)
With your skillset, it would probably be easy for you to get a work visa here if you were to chose that route, too.

I already have a work visa so I hope I can work the first two month and than to travel all about.
I had a question about climbing (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/151650-A-german-needs-help?p=1130368931#post1130368931) maybe you (blairnz) have a answer for me ;-)

That's great! You'll have much more freedom than a standard holiday visa.
