Activated my Spot tracker this afternoon and did some ok tests. I'm getting all the emails through ok, but only one of the SMS text messages. The cell number for that one starts with 021 but is a Telecom phone. The other 3 that aren't coming through are 027 numbers
Any ideas ?

wtf?

Leave off the leading 0 at the start of the number. The website puts on the country code when you choose the country from the drop down box.

Thanks, had that bit sorted. The only thing I can see is the 1 number that came through is an 8 digit number and the 3 that didn't are 9 digit numbers. All are Telecom.
I have sent an email to Spot. Got me stuffed

Spot have been looking into the problem. It seems just the Telecom cell phone numbers starting with 027 are a problem. I have a Vodaphone 021 number working OK and a n 021 Telecom number working OK. 3 027's that dont. Spot seems to think Telecom is filterring them.
Who has a spot with 027 numbers in their "OK" contacts that work OK.

I have been using a Spot device at work for several years, the oringal model and now the updated smaller unit. The Telecom Cell link has always been suspect at best! Cant get it going now! Keen to hear how you get on....

Spot has resolved the issue. Messages coming through fine now. They reckon Telecom filter some messages. Maybe they think they are Spam

Well, "Send help! Injured and stuck!" does sound dodgy. Just ask Facebook and Hotmail...

looks like a cool system .... What are the cost on these toys here ?

I prob cant warrant owning 1 since I am on a sprot bike & I dont often loose cell coverage but still looks like a cool toy

Edit: Yeah fuck that ....
Purchase price is in NZD $299 Including GST

Price includes delivery within New Zealand and registration is additional

Annual fee payable on registration US$115.00 per annum plus

US$49.99 for the optional tracking if required

I can score a set of tyres for that

Or $90 on trademe.

Still $115us pa though.

But for my needs, better than a PLB.

I was watching high country rescues TV programme the other nite. WOW it really reinforced what a great idea the plb & spot things are. You don't even hav to be far from home to be in a position where you may not get found within a day or so if you have a mishap down a grown over track & can't get the bike off you.
I think I'll save some coin & get one.

There's a Spot Connect on TM at the moment.
It turns a smart phone into a satellite phone (sorta).

Still has the HELP and 911 buttons. Just uses the phone to send txt's.
