Kids will be kids but I wouldn't be suprised if the Guard's unemployed by the end of the week. Only thing left to be seen is who runs with it tomorrow; Sainsbury, Campbell or both (unlikely). Still, the games are on and that could fill our telly screens for the week, saving the guard from trial by media.

He was correct until he hit the kid with the board, but then the kids knew they where not allowed to be there as he said last time the cops just gave him it back.
Consequences, that's what that kid learnt today.

If it was my security company that would be a guard looking for a new job, not just because he did something stupid (there were a hundred better ways to have handled that incident) but also that because he did so knowing he was being filmed! Double stupid....

"Interests - Kicking it with the kids"
Hmm. He might need to change that one. But then he has probably been bugged by the little fuckers for weeks, damaging property just because the gates were open. Probably stealing from cars as well. He should have snapped the board immediately and then seen what happened without resorting to violence. But then I bet the kid was a ginga anyway so a certain amount of violence should not only be tolerated but actually encouraged.
So yes. Burn them all.

+1 plus there is the small matter of the lie about the video camera and the invasion of the guards privacy, they were on private property so no automatic right to video. Being on private property and having told him they weren't videoing he had a reasonable expectation of privacy. The guard should sue the little pricks. He shouldn't have broken the board but in today's PC world, post Sue Bradford, it counts as better than the size 9 up the arse the deserved.

Ha! Ha! Little retards should count themselves lucky what happened to the skateboard didn't happen to them! Lovely to see how their arrogance and bravado disappeared as soon as the guard decided he'd had enough.
I think it was fair dinkum, the little shites'd probably been doing this plenty of times, ignoring warnings, etc. If not these specific young louts, then others. If they did indeed value their own property so much, why don't they treat other people's property and privacy with the same respect?
It's amazing how kids these days need a shock in order to learn anything to do with respect and civility, rather than logic and sef-respect. The bigger the ego, the hard they fall when something like this happens (I guess this might apply to both parties).
How will this work? Destruction of private property vs trespassing on private property?

As one of the generation who did indeed get the proverbial 'kick in the arse with a Police issue size 13 on occasion, and also received the secondary clip round the ear from an irate father... Yes The local Bobby on his pushbike, knew all the kids, where we lived, and you'd slink home only to see the dreaded black pushbike leaning on the hedge outside your house. Today? the bike would be gone inside 30 seconds.
Consequences, we understood them,,, do this? and your arse is going to get a beating. I dont advocate some of the beating we got dished out at school/home.. but we knew the line and what crossing it would mean... I'd love to see some of todays mouthy little sods, stood in front of the school, and given 6 of the very best at assembly. Believe me, it's a 'humbling' experience! Apart from the derision you'll endure from the other kids at break times for a couple of days.
The Guard crossed the 'line' by todays standards, so now the little assholes will receive 'counselling' for emotional trauma, and in a few years will be able to blame a 'bullying security guard' for their own bad behavior..... "poor boy was emotionally damaged your Honour" YEH RIGHT!

More like a proxy for the owners. That's what they are paid to be aren't they? to look after the owner's property. Now what are the police in this sort of thing, aren't they also meant to protect property?
Guess you wouldn't want the security guard to be de facto police because the police also have other rules to follow and balance against the owners interests. Perhaps that is what was meant about the police being "even more tied".

Yes the other rules are more commonly referred to as laws.
It looks like many posters to this thread will be accepting of having their motorbike confiscated/destroyed if they park somewhere not designated for motorbikes or overstay the parking limit. Both those examples fit the definition of trespass which is all these kids are guilty of.

Want somewhere to park your precious ride, well don't go to Eden Park aye.
There young crims can go in anytime they like and do whatever they want and the worst that can happen is they can be escorted off the premises.
Whether it's the security guards or the Police doing it.
You lot make me sick.
That guy did his best while on his own with at least 4 late teenage young men, other situations have left security guards dead.
Fuck I hate the two faced BS I see happening here.
You either want security or you don't.
Laws that are asses should as always be bloody well IGNORED.
Please, you namdey pamdey types out there what would you have done, told them off given them back their board and watched them leave?
Tui's anyone, they'd get half way to the gate and bugger off in another direction.
They know what they can and can't do that is made quite clear in the footage, for a change they learned what can and should happen when they go places they shouldn't.
I watched the entire vid, the blue clad prick did something that made the guy react, that's it I'd break the board and send them on their way to.Making sure they went out the gate and didn't come back.
Now yes of course these little law breakers are going to come back.
Why simple really, cause you guys said they would, you expect it! I don't If they get sent off and come back a beating of the first degree should be in order.
No consequences is what causes them to be there in the first place.
Call the Police you say. Another Tui's, they might get there next week.
Handle it differently you say, come on experts tell me how you'd deal satisfactorily with this situation. Remember you don't want them coming back.
Once upon a time they'd have been given a damn good thrashing, held until the Police did arrive, then they'd be taken home and their parents would be appraised of the situation and told in no uncertain terms that if their children did this again they'd be in the gun for the charges and any damages arising. Funny it worked in my day.
Soft is what we've got and this is what we get for it.

I started to type up a similar post this morning before heading to school but ran out of time. It pisses me off royally that someone in a position of trust and responsibility (security guard) had to deal with not just one obnoxious dickhead winding him up, but that the video dick had mates with him. When you're in a position of being responsible for the care of property it's pretty hard to do much when faced with an in-your-face windup artist who has numbers on his side if things go tits up.
Cops can't do much, probably wouldn't even bother getting there in any great hurry (too many other more pressing crimes to deal with) which only adds to the dilemma faced by poor security guard. Those shitheads with their "wotcha gunna do about it eh?" mentality might not really be out to cause major crime but have to accept some degree of responsibility if their persistent defiance, needling and argumentative attitude eventually get a negative reaction.
Yeah, big men, whine whinge argue bleat play the victim (that's a Tui for sure) then run off crying to mummy because someone finally snapped (like you were baiting them to) and your precious gear came off second best. Lucky it was only your pos skateboard and not your face. Pussy.

as usual I cant be fucked reading the whole thread, but the kids would have known damned well they shouldnt have been in there. They also fail to stop and think that riding around on skateboards and doing their tricks and grinds and shit can actually cause a fair amount of damage to property - there is a reason why councils spend tens of thousands of dollars of skate parks for these kids to go to so they arent skating in, and causing damage to, places where they shouldnt fuckin be in the first place.
Yup, the gaurd shouldnt have broken the skateboard, but had the kids had half a fucking brain, and been at a skatepark instead of entering an area they know they shouldnt be in, the whole thing wouldnt have happened.
I wonder how much of the earlier footage was edited out that shows them doing grinds, and tricks and causing damage, or how many other times they have been on there and been chased out.
Fuck them, kids get away with way too much shit these days, then complain when someone has finally had enough and does something.
Losing his skateboard might make him think twice about being an arrogant arsehole, and entering places he shouldnt be in the future.
Further, had he simply left when asked, and walked to the gate without starting to get lippy, and simply apologised for being there, he would have probably had his skateboard returned intact.

Did shit, got caught, got punished... sodded off quick.
I watched other parents with kids as mine were in their teens, these days the kids have the power over the parents. little johnny hits a kid at school, there's parent meetings, 'counselling', school/parent meetings... now why did you bash little johhny? that isnt nice, etc etc... suddenly at 16 they leave school and hit another youngster? Action = reaction.
At least one of the boys (video boy) got physical with the guard. Perhaps if the other boy in blue made a move too, then the guard may have felt threatened, in which case he had to make a show of intimidation to put the boys off any more ideas of further and escalating physical action. Well, it worked... The boys were cowed and you can see/hear how different they were after the guard destroyed the board.
He didn't assault any of the boys, even though at least one tried to make a move for his board and thus touched the guard. Video boy was unapologetic and illogical ("If my house door was open, sure, I'd let you walk in..." and then "If I walked into your house and took your property, how'd you feel?").
I feel bad for the guard because either way, he'd have been in trouble. Break the board, obviously people are going to think he's violent and out of control. Eject the boys and their parents may complain, or else the boys will just come back. Fail to eject the boys or stop them coming back, he'd be accused of failing in his duties.
What's the worst for the boys? They get scared, learn that they should be respectful of property and people and man up? Psychological trauma? Emotional trauma? If that's what they'll claim, then they'd be laughed at for being a bunch of pussies. :nya: Will this incident affect their academic record? Nah...
But the guard? He'll probably get a reprimand or even lose his job. This guard does something what at least half of us here would do, and he'll get into trouble? Paul Henry says/does worse and all he gets is a better paying job in Oz... Where's the justice in that?
And for all of you adults or young adults out there defending the boys, just remember that you'd more likely be in the guard's position than the boys', and more so as each year passes. So before you say let boys be boys, think what young people will be like when you're older and you're not seen as one of them. Do you want boys who'll help you out when you dropped your oxygen mask, or boys who'll laugh and heckle you and you can't even reach them with your walking cane... :Pokey:
