Hey there

We’re considering a stint working in Aussie –maybe Truck or Tractor Driving – whatever - totally open minded – with a view to have another adventure and earn some $$$ at the same time.

I guess the mines/WA is the go, for the optimal $$, but when I search online I am bombarded with links/options

Does anyone know someone currently over there who could give some “on the ground “advice – eg Go to XX and avoid YY

Cheers in Advance

Pass Go... collect $200, do not go to jail  Glad to help :niceone:

I'm outside (regional) Melb, not sure if I can help but will try where I can. Send me a PM if you like.
WA definitely has the money.

cheers

I'm in SA and its not as easy to get in with those jobs as everybody thinks. Because of they money on offer they are frequently receiving applications in the thousands for as few as ten positions. As my wise 64yo friend put it, 'it's a skills shortage, not a labour shortage'

95% of the time your best shot is to be there in town already, and it certainly helps if you know someone. Just don't expect to rock up and start making a few grand a week like some people do.

Also, if you're not already qualified for the driving work you want to do, and with some experience, I wouldn't even get on a plane. That said, if you can do scaffolding or water blasting, and are maori, then you can get a job earning $30-40/hr on the shutdowns.

Use www.gumtree.com.au to search for work to get a feal of what is availlable

DONT trust employment web sites, they falsly advertise jobs to get numbers on there books

Mines, forgett it mate, you would need to know someone that knows some one or have a skill no one else does

A forklift operator here can make between $25 and $28 normall hoiurly wage with OT on top

The basic license test is $450 I think
