Can you imagine how paranoid the English must be getting? Anyone with a mid-eastern appearance and carrying a bag would be getting quite a few looks right now I reckon.

Got in the lift the other day and there was a Eastern-looking chap there, said g'day and asked where he was from.

"Iraq" was the reply.

Seemed pleasant enough and looked slim - no bulges around the torso...

Can relate to this http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=302061#post302061 , I can say that everyone is checking out everyone at the moment on the Tubes / Buses regardless of race background. Shortly after the first attacks I was sitting on the tube in between a bunch of Middle Eastern / Asian gentlemen as they are called here . There were a few spare seats around these guys. An American couple gets on the Tube , husband walks down and is about sit down when wife in a big USA voice say"NOOO I'M NOT GOING SIT THERE WITH THEM" and moves to the other end of the carriage and stays standing. I mutter under my breath , Dumb loud mouth b1tch , the gentlemen around me crack up and hubbie walks away.

Sheesh guys. Careful. I love a bit of humour (loved iQaeda and Mr Jihad!) but you've gotta be real careful not to buy into all the crap we see on telly. I worked for an Iraqi family for a year...face painted with the kids during holidays, helped both the husband and the wife (both veterinarians) and was generally taken into the house by the grandmother (who spoke no English, I spoke no Arabic...yet we STILL got on). Prejudices run rife when you ONLY believe what you see/hear and not what you feel (when you meet someone).

Sorry if this sounds harsh, must be feeling oversensitive (ie. hungover) today. :)
