Howdy,

Ive had this bike for 2 weeks ran sweet as first week but then it was knocked over when was at work. Kept dying on the way home, found the main positive had broken, fixed that but then new problems started,

Honda NV400 '89

-tacho & speedo dash lights not going (new bulbs), all others work

-headlight works high and low beams, tail & park light no go

-Front brake(new switch) lights up brake light, rear doesn't (switch works)

-Indicators only go when front and back brakes are on

-engine starts easy

Ive opened the loom and checked all the wires no evidence of pinching or damage, connections all look sweet and cleaned out the switches. All bulbs are new or sweet as.

Could it be a faulty indicator or tail/stop relay?

any help would be rad

Sounds like a bad earth some where, this is why the indercators go when the brakes are on as they are earthing through the brake light circuit. Most hondas switch the brake light by earthing the circuit, bulb has power applied to it at all times the switch connects to earth to complete the circuit.
Tacho tail light ect are all on the same circuit this is why they all don't work could be a power feed issue or could be the same earth issue. Headlight has it's own power feed from the switch and it's own earth so it will work when the other circuit is not. to test the rear brake feed unplug the switch and connect the wiring direct to the frame if the brake light lights up go chasing the bad earth.

Thanks for the tips, no luck. had couple of mates take a look too still cant find the leak. brake switches both work and has new indicator relay. Fixed the tacho-speedo & park lights but keeps poppin the turn / horn / tail fuse.

Anyone know a good auto-electrician in Christchurch?
