View Full Version : 1100: What model and year would I buy?

Sounds so easy... descide what you want and buy it..!

Yep thats how it works... for some... luckey bastards... their wifes have melons like the summer fair, John Holmes is in the family tree... close. And they have someone who washes there stable of bike in a bikini bottom only... while they sit down in the sun have a RED obviously.

Well that was a nice dream... only bit we have in common is the RED... bit. See rich f#ckers drink red too.

Me.. I got the red bit sorted just need to work on the rest... (looking up at the house... thinking... bitch your folks could be rich!) sip of red and thinking... could be worse my name could be Euan Macdonld... Enough said.. but i reakon us kiwi bikers should band togeather and send him a Bain knitt... you know that jumper... Euan would like that i am thinking.

Anyway back to 1100...

Step one... buy a cheaper bike... say you will keep it forever... other wise you will not be allowed it.
Step two... pay it off.... kids don't need everything and some school provide breakafast... move schools.
Step three... wait
Step four... and now you have to act fast... Step one tells you you can do this.... think you MUST have this bike.. now act.... make sure the value is exsactly twice what the first bike was...or cheaper. Very important.... !

Step five... ring in a panic.... "I MUST HAVE THIS BIKE NOW" now the step is not huge... borrow 100% now... then sell the first bike, borrow the same and strike... key is the wife's head has dealt with this before... same descision. Borrow the same amount or better still cheaper. and come up with a plan how you can save $$$ so it will not cost her.... obviously a lie.. but hey not my fault it sound so good and the math did not stack up!

Welcome to....

GSXR1100 1986

Now... for just a small investment... I have a very nice 1100.. ohlin full adjustable shock, dyno coils, progresive springs, 38K, yoshi, nice and tight.... obviouly not talking about the km. Just gorgeous. and guess what! its RED!!!

My apologies. I thought you were suggesting he should change the wheels to later model ones.

When I looked closer I realised the bike had already been bastardised.

What a shame.

I dunno, It is a good mod and can be undone if "it has to be 100% original".
I have a pair of 86 G wheels and axles, speedo drive etc.. just missing the cush and sprocket carrier.

See post #9.

This from someone who didn't even notice that the wheels weren't original.:Pokey:.. or that the rear guard has been castrated? I think not :tugger:

Some like there's factory fresh looking, some with subtle mods , some the full mods. Me I like and love them all. My fave GSXR is the 750le you know the limited production with the dry clutch, remote ressi shock, 310mm disc's , single seat ,1100 fairing etc have ridden one what a machine along with a RG500 the best Suzuki made.

Been a while... but I have a few pictures.

Me I like old bikes.. ok lets not be stupid they have to be ridable, have some grunt and look cool. And unfortunitly some of that old shit... 50,60's etc is just too old for my liking.

I like them modified so they are usable... collecters have originals that are not riden... borring.

no one noticed the swingarm... disapointed.

Mate I have no clue how you find all these old gems

ktm84mxc
27th August 2012, 08:15
They pop up in the bike auctions in Japan best to talk to Spectrum , the amounts of bikes is a sight to see most are low mileage even a few race bikes. Lots of NSR, TZR, RGV, RS etc for the 2 stroke lover, the Rothman's NSR's go for crazy money.

I just finished reading about a VJ23 Lucky Strike that's lived in four countries (so far). Fuck R model Ducatis, these are proper rare bikes.

27th August 2012, 10:01
For sure some even go over $10g NZ ,crazy for a 20 yr old bike, if you can find a NSR sp the ultimate 250 and most come with top spec pipes etc.
It seems Honda's are way more than a Suzi/Kawa/Yam. For the Harley rider there's plenty of choice to.

Yeah interestingly the MC28SP commands money over the MC21SP, which is arguably superior. The prices between MC28s and VJ23s are about the same... although (arguably again) the VJ23 is the pick of the 2 stroke race replicas.

Jerry74
7th September 2012, 20:23
ok my bad just saw 1100 cc bike and thought I would mention which one I thought was the best.

in that case GSXR 92 or 93 one as this is where the water cooling came in , I used to have a 93 and it went good as gold with no issues.

Nice 1100! :2thumbsup Metchamex arm...cool and still relevant to those models...don't let Katman see though :p
Me, I prefer the 'M' model, the last air cooled one's. The water pumpers were never as good.
But there's something about those early one's eh.....
