If the correct answer is 50%, you'd only have 25% chance of getting it right, so it's wrong.
But if the answer is 25%, you'd have 50% chance of getting it right, so it's wrong too.
So I think the proper answer is 7.

Edbear

The answer is always 42...

Maha
3rd August 2012, 11:10
Theres a 50% chance you will choose 1 of the 25%'s as being the correct answer...so it cant be either of those..

The answer is... 60% ..being the greater, not a lesser percenatage of choice, which by chance is is all you got at the end of the day.

I thought you said it wasn't a math problem Drew ?

I like the people who say....1,000,000%
It can only ever be 100%.

So what percentage of 10 is 15 ?

150 % maybe ?

It depends on how random your random answer is. The answer is rainbow. http://www.gesshoku.org/images/imagecache/favoritecolor.jpg

It just so happens that I have been revising this very subject quite recently so can give a very precise answer.

P(Rnd(A : D l A=D) = (B.AD!)^0.5

So easy really.

The probability of random selection of the correct answer is zero based on the selection of 3 possible outcomes and 4 possible choices where 2 choices would be correct making them incorrect. Two rights do make a wrong even though two wrongs dont make a right.

Jantar
3rd August 2012, 23:01
its B- 50%

Can't be. There is only a 25% probability of randomly selecting B.

FJRider
3rd August 2012, 23:05
If there are four questions ... if there were four different answers ... it would be 25%.

Two answers were 25% ... so the answer was not then 25%. It could be 50%.

But 50% was one answer ... one of the four answers ... therefore the answer is 25%.

But as 25 % is two of the answers ... it must be 50%

DAM ... I'm going for a beer ...

Form a circle with your thumb and first finger and then gently move your hand backwards and forwards whilst saying it.

Does that help?

The bee-dot-ginza is a secret society. I hear that you must apply to join and only when you join will you be told what it is. However, there's a 99% chance your application will be declined ;)

Answer is actually 0%. Cos everyone will pick A or D hoping they will have more chance of getting it right, when in fact it is B.

Drew

You're over thinking it. The question, and the answers on the board are completely unrelated. The question asks if you choose an answer at random,so any thought given to the numbers on the board is redundant.

There is no right answer.

Well if you pick at random then A and D are both right. Multi-guess question huh?

Jantar
6th August 2012, 13:12
Well if you pick at random then A and D are both right. Multi-guess question huh?

Both A and D cannot be right, because there is a 50% chance of selecting either A or D, (and 0% chance of selcting both of them). The only choice with an answer of 50% is B, but there is only a 25% chnace of selecting B, so that can't be the correct answer either.

Got some time on my hands at the moment...

What does "correct" mean? I can randomly choose A through D - but that doesn't indicate which is correct. The fact that one value is repeated doesn't mean anything.
