Hey all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.
Been going mad trying to find a front sprocket for my '93 3LN6 FZR250. I don't really want to pay $173 for a genuine one ex japan, so I went aftermarket but i can't find a single match. I bought one that was apparently for an FZR but the new one is thinner than the OEM one already on the bike, and the sprocket nut bottoms out before it even gets close to tightening up on the sprocket. I talked to the supplier (Bits4Bikes) and they say its the only listing for my bike and it shouldn't need any kind of spacer. Every aftermarket one i can find on the interweb is the same size as the new one i've got.

Anybody had this problem before?

Got a part number for the new one you have?

wemoto.com will have them in stock

I've tried looking up wemoto.com, its the same design as the one i already have.

The rear sprocket works fine, just the front one doesn't tighten up :brick:.

Surely i can't be the only one who has ever had this problem haha.

Are you using the washer that goes between the nut and sprocket?

Only the washer for locking the sprocket nut. Thats all the yamaha manual shows?
I also measured them, about 9.5mm OEM one vs. just over 7mm for the after-market one.
Seems like a bit of a major design fault for that kind of difference, but every after-market sprocket I can find appears to be the same design.

Screw it, might just try and jam some washers in to make it sit tight.

put up some photos. someone might have changed it all prior to you owning it.
photos of old and new will help

Thats fine if the sprockets are in alignment/centered on the shafts/rims ... but if the sprockets are off-set to one side, chain life will be reduced with the chain wanting to climb over to the side of the sprocket ..... And may fuck the sprockets slowly too.

But screw it ... It is your bike .....

I would suggest http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/2366 to check that you are getting the correct sprocket. It appears the FZR250 has a 428 chain. Is your one still 428 or has it been changed?
