A couple of us are heading down to the track (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=511&c=1) tomorrow, it would be good to see a few more KBers joining us! :Punk:
Note: I believe that it now costs $90 and not $80.
Here's hoping the weather remains as fantastic as it has been the last few days! :sunny: :spudwave::sunny:

ZedI suppose this is short notice but I did mention it on WT's track day thread too.
Hey Alan (DM) on your Gixxer750, come on down, and Paul on your bent CBR600RR you still keen?
I just had a new pair of rear brake pads fitted to the Bird tonight. I'm keen to find out the real top speed and braking power of this thing, not to mention practising my wheelies - hope nothing breaks! :Punk:

I can't believe you pay $90 to ride round that goat track. Down here bren is going out to ruapuna for the afternoon tomorrow and that will cost $50. Theres a decent chance he will have the track to himself but if not it will be 2 or 3 others. Hard life living down here.

depends on gearing, but the superbikes run 270-280 at Ruapuna, top speed doesn't count for much if you're on a track, it's all about lap times, what other tracks have you ridden because Puke isn't much of a challenge

Bullshit.
There's two turns at Puke' that you're going flat out, right on the edge of your tyres, one of wich has a grouse change in evelvation.
Nothing like coming over the top of the hill, totaly blind, with your knee trapped between the fairing and the tarmac, throttle pegged at 200kays in third gear.
Ore screaming through turn one, knee draggin' in the grass, setting up for a REAL quick direction change while hard on the picks.
Might be a fast, short track, but it certainly aint boring.

Yeah yeah been there done that except I raced it in the pissing down rain on a sidecar on slicks which made it mildly interesting and the next day in the dry when it was boring as fuck except for when we were in traffic
Guess on a bike it'd be a bit different but given the choice between Puke and Ruapuna it wouldn't even get a look in

Puke is a great track for us non-racer peeps to give our bikes a good thrashing down both front and back straights and enjoy the corners in between. You Sth Is. guys can run it down all you like but don't forget that there's still a lot of us up this way who enjoy it heaps!
I'm sure I'll be bragging about Puke even more tomorrow after the track day!

Went and watched one of the sessions, ol' Zed was giving a few guys on race bikes the learn. Caught up with Swanman and Firefight, watched Drunken Monkey with the shuddery front end giving it a good nudge.

Well, the guys looked like they were having a blast when I stopped by. I took a few photos but managed to delete the really good ones of Motobob (sorry Paul). So I'm afraid my photography skills were pretty bad today. I've been trying to attach the photos for the past two hours and the site is so slow it won't let me do it
So, sorry guys, I'll try again another time...

What another fantastic days riding!!
Weather conditions were superlative, and the track was in great nick, well until a cage splattered oil on the hairpin just before our last session of the day. Unfortunately one of the bikes took a slide in it but he was able to ride home so the damage wasn't very serious.
I counted only 8 bikes out there today but it turned out to be a good sized group all with a similar skill level (KBers were Motobob, Drunken Monkey, & myself), everyone rode well and kept their lines with only two guys riding on to the grass at Jennian Homes corner. We managed to get in four good sessions, however the last session was ruined a bit because of the oil spill.
I had value for money after my 2nd session of the day I felt...it was just such a birthday buzz!
Good to see some KBers making an effort to come down to watch & support, it made it more enjoyable. Thanks for coming down Keystone, Firefight, Trashman, Riff Raff, Stifarms, Swanman, Death & Taxes.
I hope next weeks track day is just as good for you who are going, unfortunately I'll be working (only one birthday holiday a year) so won't be present.
Zed
Ps. A few pics attached...sorry I wasn't more photogenic but I had some riding to do!

Hi Guys an Keystone.
Two bins in 2 weeks. I think I ,m gonna have to go back to riding school to relearn to ride. Couldn't believe it when I caught the oil an the rest didn't. It is a hard way to learn that one must check the surface after the cages have been out. I was having a good time too and starting to get some of the old confidence back. Anyway hope to get the mini beast to a more serviceable condition ( including the trainer wheels) and with luck hopefully out there next Friday.
Anyway good to meet up with Zed, Alan and I forgot the name of his mate  on the 955.
Keystone as the guys said you can get some good pics down at the hairpin. I only do one show daily where the CBR and I do the horizontal two step. Hopefully that was our final show.

Oh no, I can't believe you binned again! I posted earlier today that when I left you were still upright and decided to delete that bit just in case! Guess I should have left it in!
With a bit of luck I'll catch you on the hairpins next Friday actually on the bike!

Thanks! I'll have a look. Will get some more practice next Friday hopefully! It's darn difficult trying to actually get bikes in the picture. I must have deleted about 10 empty pictures. You guys were just going too fast!

...I'm keen to find out the real top speed and braking power of this thing, not to mention practising my wheelies - hope nothing breaks! :Punk:Results are as follows:
Excellent dual braking system, coming down to the end of the back straight I could leave it until the 100m mark before hitting the picks as well as engine braking to safely get around the hairpin. Slows down real quick in other words.
Disappointing top speed, could only manage a speedo indicated 280kmph down the back straight nearly redlining every gear! I need a GSXR1000...

That looked like fun. I stopped by for 20mins or so catching the end of the cars first run and most of the bikes. Was good to see you tagging behind the 2 sports bikes, and the sound of the leading guy's Aprilia? was horny as hell.
Might be tempted to give it a nudge on Friday. :Punk:

I was gonna keep quiet but she spotted as soon as she drove into the garage. Must have expected it. Even my accountant commented on the damage. Someone must be spreading rumours about my prowess  Anyway I'm gonna miss out this Friday which is a pity.
