Yep, saw the first blowfly, and tree pollen on the deck.
Wind next.

The lambs have been popping out for a few weeks already.
Oddly, I saw a monarch butterfly last week. Surely they are a "warm weather" type of beast?

This is the song that never ends,
yes it goes on and on my friends,
some people; started singing it not knowing what it was,
and they'll continue singing it but only just because...

But it did end didn't it Lamb Chop

We have had flutterbies all winter. Definitely spwing now, it was 23c yesterday arvo again, I wake up to a crescendo of bickering, nectar guzzling Tui's & the lawn has grown 6 inches in a week. Arse. Seen heaps of big fat B52 pigeons too.

A silly asparagus poked it's head up here about 3 weeks ago. Fruit trees are starting to move buds too. Accordingly I sprayed with copper oxychloride about an hour ago.

I saw one too, probably not the same one.

There was a really early daffodil but they are coming out in numbers now.

It's all a conspiracy to lull us into false optimism, spring is a long way off yet.

Finally, the roads are starting to dry out so I can have fun again! Has anyone here been over the Akaroa hill lately, and is there much gravel still there on the road?

First dawn chorus this morning - nothing better than a randy blackbird telling you spring is here.

Monarchs flitting about, lots of Tuis in the garden and best of all, fishing this arvo in the boat just outside Coromandel Harbour in shorts, nailing 10 snapper between my missus and me

Yup, Spring is here until the forecast deluge tomorrow :(

We be going almost every weekend over winter....and it is currently sweet as except for some clay from the slips recently.

I only ride straight roads over winter as I hate the gravel over the hills. I can't wait until summer when the roads are dry and grippy. I might try going for a slow ride over there next week.

OK I bet those early bird blowflies etc are right pissed off that they got out of the blocks early!
