heys guys just thought id let you know what ive done to my bike so far
i purchased my 99cb600 hornet at 67,000 kms from auckland,
pics to follow when i find em
the first pics i saw on trade me
at 66,000 kms
http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu142/hayd33n/27104_405720100228_2371733_n.jpg

http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu142/hayd33n/27104_405720140228_2562603_n.jpg
after i left my previous bike at a accident scene (after rebuilding the gearbox and fixing all the fairings from a earlier crash)
in a right state
first time
http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu142/hayd33n/SDC12081Large.jpg
second time
http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu142/hayd33n/19034_316074493217_621633217_3467438_488455_n.jpg

the bike was fitted with a givi screen which did a good job of deflecting the wind
but it was ugly and rattled
so i sold that to a kiwibike member -$50
bought a two brothers exhaust of trademe $100
got it fitter with a custom link pipe (GPCUSTOM)
http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu142/hayd33n/Photo-0028.jpg

i replaced the stock bars with ultra low renthals
purchased from a member of kiwibiker $100

had a custom stainless radiator cover made by GPCUSTOM (southernrider)$50

replaced stock mirrors with koso mirrors $60 trademe

then the head decided to bend a valve :(
i decided it would be far easier and less trouble some to buy a secone hand head

so i trolled the internet and found a cylinder head in WALES
that had done 30,000 kms
and the seller was kind enough to track down all the required gaskets/ head bolts / parts for
$700 delivered to my door

then the oilcooler decided the start leaking :( $5 in orings wilson bros

then the bike was up and relaible again !!!!!
untilll,,,,
the radiator started to leak
i temporary repaired this with high temp epoxy $5

after GPCUSTOM tried his bestest to repair the damage by tig welding the aluminium
this lasted approximatly 6 months!!

wahoo
i found a brand new radiator for $200 shipped

then the water pump decided to spring a leak :(
so i rode the bike for 3 months with the base of a coke bottle cable tied underneath the water pump to catch the fluid :P

i found a 2nd hand water pump on kiwibiker from a cbr f2 engine$30
and he sent me another spare!!! wahoo

also ive repaced the wheel bearings x2 ($12 each set ) wilson bros
fork oil $20
repainted forks black / triples $20 can
custom made grab rail blanks

also custom made top box holder

and pannier rack
and replaced the steering head bearings $39 (pryramid parts)
wow what a diffference that does !!!!!!!
then at the southern rider rally my speedo cable broke :(
i replaced that $40 (moto xtreme)
but ever since then the trip meter wont reset :(

custom screen x3

Does look very smart Hayden..perhaps would have gone with black mirrors rather than gold but a personal choice.

You've given that Hornet a lot of loving! It really lucked out having you as the next owner! Good list of mods and repairs and spares you got there, did you write all that down or did it just come tripping out of memory lane? :niceone:

Very nice sir, you are a credit to Hornet owners...

I couldn't help but think you should upgrade to a 900... no water pump/radiator etc issues, just consumables (inc wheel bearings) in 106,500km so far

Still, yours is hardly stock and does look good... :Punk:
