Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you know any one that would be able to offer a lift from Christchurch out to the Dalethorpe trail ride this Sunday. I have just got my new WR and am really pumped to head out, but I dont know any one that rides in Christchurch just yet. If worst comes to worst I can ride out there but a secure ride would be nice just incase I smash my bike to pieces. Im good company and can help out with petrol money too.

Cheers

Not going this time but wondering which WR did you get?
I have just pretty much finished running in a 250R, also armoured it, lowered gearing etc so had considered this ride but with all the crap weather about I would want to replace the tyres with some more dirt worthy than the stock ones I still have mounted.
Plenty of people saying they want to play in the dirt here but not so many actually organising any get together's online.
Good luck, hope you enjoy it, supposed to be a good mix of terrain there usually.

Cheers man. Could you PM me your number? The site wont let me send PMs yet as I haven't been on for long enough.

Yeah my bike is semi road-legal, there is just one or 2 more little bits I have to sort before I can get it re-vinned and registered (speedo and horn). I live in St Albans.

If your going to Dalethorpe, make sure you have good full mud/dirt/root tyres on the bike, and take off any extra stuff for road compliance if you can.
Its one of the more gnarly rides around canterbury. Its not all open paddocks and lanes like some rides.

There are plenty of twisty/steep/rooty up and down hills in the forest, and some more open riverbed, farm road riding as well. There are also a couple of river crossings (take a plug spanner etc).

The main track is one of the more challenging of the suzuki trails rides, especially when its wet, and its often wet.
Great ride and great views from the high points if its a clear day.

It can be quite hard on beginners. My first ride there I only managed one lap on my drz400, due to dropping it a lot (and then picking it up) on the gnarly/wet/rooty hills :)

I'm still in Matt. If I can't sort trailer, we'll hire one. Should be space for 3 but will need to sort times for pick up etc. Will be a bit of running around prior to leaving town.

Cheers R

Its been so wet it may well be cancelled (shame).

There is a mailing list for the suzuki trails rides: trailrides@xtra.co.nz
Plus they are often listed on myrides: http://www.myrides.co.nz/trail-rides-xidc53532.html

If I see a cancellation I will post here again about it.

Hi Trailriders

Event Postponement
Due to the excessive rainfall over the past fortnight, the Dalethorpe Trailride will be held on Sunday 2 September. Hopefully conditions will dry enough for car park access. The course will have shortcut options suitable for Novice and Children plus Enduro Options from challenging to extreme. ATV riders are catered for and are advised to take shortcut options as signposted. There will be some excellent views and possibly snow with the course climbing to 900 metres above sea level at the highest point.

Awesome, more time to practice. Two weeks isn't that long to wait at all either.
