So... My KM counter reset thing seems to have broken. (scuse the highly technical terms! I have 3.30itis and my brain isn't working...)

Before, to reset when I topped up with petrol I would twist it and it would go back to 0. Now it doesn't...

Any idea on how to fix it?

Have you tried pushing & turning? A bit of general wiggling?

Yep, tried being gentle, tried forcing it, tried pulling it, tried while holding it various angles etc. All with no luck

That is the limit of my mechanical ability I'm afraid. IIR it's probably the little plastic cog doo hickey on the end of the finger twiddly whatsit given up the ghost.

It's 3:30 here too, brain broken.

Hopefully a fully synapsed member will turn up & talk sense.

That's why my pockets are sewn up, part of my bail conditions.

left or right? did you try alternating?

but srsly. i'd say somethings broken.

taking it apart should make it fairly obvious. but it's lots of small pieces that you may not be comfortable removing... probably a cog the size you'd find in the back of a wall clock. or tamiya motor set...

If it looks like turning into a saga, have a look at the wee bicycle speedos. They generally have dual trips, are pretty accurate for speed & distance travelled, have lap timers on them etc. Some cheap ones out there too, I have used them on & off for years on dirt bikes or if, erm, for some reason I needed to disconnect the speedo on a bike.

How do they work? Is there much wiring required for these?

After note- I just had a google and they seem to be things you just stick on and ride... How on earth does that work? GPS? Magic? Voodoo power?

Two little magnets, one on the wheel / spoke the other inside the fork leg, you calibrate the speedo from the size of the wheel. Wire runs up from the sensor on the fork to the speedo you have handily stuck were you can see it. Runs on a wee battery. Worth carrying a spare battery if you want to rely on it for your speedo rather just a trip meter. Been awhile since I looked but for the money they are great. Most are fairly water proof & robust, get one that goes up to 140 -160kmh.

Don't think that would matter for my GN125...

i got one when my speedo drive f*cked out.. couldn't fit it. wire's too short. would have interfered with caliper or something. spokey job better. 40$ at avanti plus. i'll sell it to ya for 50. :D
