Sold this guy a battery and he promised to bring it around once he got it back on the road...
1990 NSX that has had a bucket load of coin spent on it to make it lighter and faster around the track. He reckons he's lightened it by about 100kg using Carbon Fibre and Titanium and the battery saved about 10kg on its own. He's been running it around for a few weeks now while he irons out some refinements but says the Shorai battery is performing perfectly!
He's tweaked the 3lt V6 but keeping it streetable using readily available Honda bits and pieces. The list is long of his modifications, but suffice to say it sounds incredible through the Titanium exhaust!

Funny thing is I've never seen or even heard of hairdressers gay or straight driving either car. That's the trouble with prejudice, rarely based on reality...

That's the smallest cost. I can't tell you what he's spent on this one but it would make a good house deposit...

Certainly a great car in its time but many wondered why it didn't have a larger V10 more in line with the F1 Honda engines of the day, but they made it so the little old lady from Pasadena could potter down Colorado Blvd in it no sweat.
Funny how a 201kw engine these days is so last year, but that was when the hot Holden 5 litre V8 was a 185kw unit.
Now 300+ kw is the norm for such cars.

Where do groceries go? If you have a bike for fun and a car that cant carry groceries does that mean you need a car that does also.:shit:

The really impressive bit is watching them clean up more powerful cars on the track. They were extensively modified by tuners of course!

I think he's got a couple of bikes but doesn't need batteries for them yet. I think he travels light s well...

The best part about the NSX power figures is they didn't lie, I have seen results on one with over 200k on the clock pulling 185kw at the wheels, unmodified :shit: take in to account that it's fairly torquey, has pefect ratios and is a genuine 1200kg, it's still a fast car now :D a 3.2 could almost hold a 360 Modena in a drag race

This is the 3lt earlier model. Once he gets the new FI for it he will have taken it about as far as he can and still have a streetable car. He's spent gold on the chassis set up with a mix of NSX-R and GT race bits for suspension and brakes.
They are a true classic and I would have one in an instant! Just gotta sell a few more batteries... :soon: LoL!

I noticed it's a 3L, the 3L was the one I've seen pushing that power at the wheels, properly impressive motors...typical Honda :D
He wasn't from Taupo by any chance? And purchased that one in auto form?

Don't think so, he bought it new and has gradually uprated it over the years.

Cool story bro.
Is he going to secure that amazing battery with anything more substantial than cable ties before he next heads out to scorch tarmac?

Along with a few other bits and pieces... Mind you the darned things are so light you could just about use sticky tape and they won't budge. Yeah track rules are for a reason and he's a seasoned track racer.

Assume maybe 4g impact. What does your super mega lightweight battery weigh then?
Please advise me of the brand of sticky tape you use

Which size did he get?
He got the 36A. If anyone has a high performance car engine I recommend the biggest for longevity as there is little strain on such a grunty battery. Unless it is a small engine. I sold a 12A to a 1300cc rally car owner and to a VW powered off-roader.
I run the 21A in my MX5 and it's perfect.
