For anyone interested. I recorded fiqures for each class at the nationals 2007-2012. From Qualifying lists . Sorry Pro Twin and F3/Superlite are combined. But just as a guide the Pro Twins have hovered around 8-9 bikes from season two till now give or take. The F3/Superlite was going backwards until class spec changes and looks like it will be bigger in 2012. This is just something that may be or not be of interest. Per Round /final column is average per round. Fiqures are a guide only.

Good to see that the numbers are holding up or increasing across the classes.
That looks like its almost one club race-day volunteer for every 2.5 championship riders on average.

What sticks out for me is Rnd 5 of 2012 for F3/Pro Twin. 125's and Prolite 250's look strong down south. SBK and 600's, much the same throughout the rounds.

Yeah Pacific Club had a big turn out for that round at Taupo for Pro Twin /Superlite F3.

125's also looking strong up north here. Much more so than the last couple years.
Helps with a few 250 as well set to be entering.
Hopefully a better average this year for us, as it would suck to be removed!
There's been 3 / 4 men keeping the class alive in the last few years done by a great passion.

Yip,Thats cause it doubled as a round of the pacific summer series as well,There really needs to be a big increase in numbers for Pro Twin for it too stay.

Good man, the 125 class teachs many many skills. I still haven't got the hang off it yet. Hence why i haven't moved up. Getting better however.

Thanks for the warning. It would be a real shame to spend money setting up a bike to have the class pulled.

What sort of number would be required Billy ?
If it were to be canned, do you know when would this take effect ?

Theres no immediate plans to can any class that I'm aware of,But there has been a suggestion made by a number of people both within MNZ ranks and others that the class has not taken off as was first predicted it would and there are some who would like to introduce a Formula 450 class such as the new one introduced in the Formula Xtreme series in its place,With the view that any protwins machinery could either be turned into Superlite machines or put back on the road,I think its a good idea,But as I stated earlier,It hasn't been discussed at all by the commission and won't be until plans are finalised for the 2013 series.

That would be a shame. As The Chow said earlier, that 8-9 bike per round, Just under the avg for the 125's. 125's have gone backwards in numbers for the last couple of years, hopefully the 125 numbers can sustain themselves, always a good sound and smell out there.
I like the idea of F450, always have. Once was enough on a Motard around Manfeild for the bike to say enoughs enough.

The doubling of rounds or co-joining key events has some long-term merit, entry-wise, interset-wise and exposure-wise.
Its also good to have the club riders getting a feel for whats it like being part of a national level race paddock, even if only for 1 round of their club championship, it appears to break down some of the percived barriers and fears somewhat.

Yip,Fully agree,However it appears the new licence system may be a stumbling block for club racers.

Good point Glen
To clarify further if entering a 'support class' in a national event would the entrant need a championship license or a club license?

Not really my dept,But as it was recently discussed with the NZPCRA over the Barry Sheene,If its a national event,But your only entering a support class with no national points or title,You can use a club licence,However if you want to ride in ANY National points race/title or club circuit,You need a national licence,Would be a good idea to double check with Bonnie at the office though.
