Yamaha TZ250 rebuild

Owned a TZ250W for >16yrs. Been sitting unused for far too long (me included) so time to make right sounds and smells again. After any recommendations on suitable ChCh based engine rebuilders/tuners.

I know of an RS250 and TZ250, think theyre both early 2000 models. They come out for track days and only in the height of summer when there is not a cloud in the sky. Great little(in the physical sense) bikes.

For parts, I've had pretty good service from guys like Rick at www.accu-products.com. He's been great with the rev cylinder stuff and there are other good US websites focussed on TZ125/25 RS125/250 running parts. The left hand crank seals are NLA and outer mains are also I think. However, the crank seals are being made in the UK (can't remember who right now) and for the outer mains, there is a high speed, high load, axial load bearing you can buy which has an inner race (as opposed to sitting on the crank journal itself) that drops straight in. NJ2206EMC3 or something, has been a little while. The prefix and suffix is right, but the number I would check a bearing chart for ID, OD and width to get correct number.

Talk to Rod Price at Helicraft in Wanaka too. He still has a W.

I miss my riding my U .....it's now in Chch, but too many bikes, not enough time.

Gidday - how is the rebuild coming along? I ask because I am interested in doing one myself and need to find a bike.
