He won't be doing that again in a hurry. Especially not with that arm...

Lucky it was only a little tyre...a real truck tyre would have made his lights go very dim...

Looks like a zipper failure, I've experienced one of those from a similar distance but probably a lower pressure and luckily while wearing eye and hearing protection

Generally from the tyre being run underinflated for a while

Dunno, but I've seen a few things go into the side of tyres without that happening, I was very surprised it went off like that just from being stabbed

I remember technical training on truck tyres and being told if you put a Mini on a 1000R20 and could set it off they reckoned it would go 2 stories high, probably a large exaggeration but there's a fair bit of force involved, I know a couple of guys who've been bowled off their feet but haven't lost their clothes

A couple of years ago I had a trailer recapped tyre go pop on my truck and trailer unit, it ripped the guards off, smashed the lights, put a dent in the barrel and knocked the top of the fire extinguisher off which covered the car following in powder. Poor cunt was stammering still when he pulled up behind me...fuel trucks kinda have that effect on folks...:killingme

holy fuckanoly that tyre you mention doesn't look big enough :shit:... the guy was probably lucky that there was another tyre beside it as I guess there would have been even more pressure as it was forced out.

Hard to tell if arm broke or knife tip broke and air pressure shot it out at the guy.
Car tyres 35+ commercial tyres (van etc) 45+

Truck tyre ???????

Even beading a bike tyre which seems to pop on at about 40 pounds shows the force inside.

Truck tyre ???????

Most likely 80psi + , it's not just the pressure it's also the volume

I remember years ago when they were building the new interchange up the gorge. Some hapless chap decided to try and weld up a rim of a huge earth mover while the tyre was still on the rim.

RIP.

Truck tyres run anywhere from 85 psi up to about 125 psi. And yeah it's the volume of air that adds to the force...

There's been a few fatalities over the years from that, it isn't even safe to deflate, weld and reinflate, the tyre has to be removed

That's why I cant work out why that one went off so badly, it doesn't normally happen

We've set a few off and you have to do a fair bit of damge to the sidewall before they'll pop (all in the interests of research of course)

Even a car tyre or wheelbarrow tyre can do you some damage if it happens

Yup, even small trucks run at least 60-65psi. The Sulco trucks I drove were 65psi and they were little Dyna's.
