Dunno if this is the right forum, but hey - its worth asking. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to get a visor for an older model helmet? Its a GPG (the last 'G' is backwards on the logo), "formula 1 strapless design".

Aparently back in the day (late 80's) it was quite the flash model ($1000 odd bucks even back then) but more to the point it has huge sentimental value for its owner (my flatmate). (It used to belong to her father, he wore it while racing in the states, trying for the land speed records for naturally aspirated V8's on the salt plains).

If anyone has any idea where I can start looking, it would be much appreciated - cheers guys!

Have you tried calling all the bikeshops in the book ? If not then that would be a place to start..... and then there is always good old google :-D

Is it a moulded one, or just a piece of flat perspex-type material? If the latter, you may be able to get one made by a plastic fabrication place out of acrylic sheet of the right thickness.

If it's only of sentimental value (you realise a helmet that old isn't particularly safe?), how important is this?

Its not vitally important, but would be nice to have it complete again for her. Might start ringing a couple of the bike shops, see if they are available.

And viffer - its not for track use or anything, only came up the other day because she was riding a quad round a farm in the rain - would have been nice to have a visor she could put down.

Might be worth trying a fabrication place, they may be able to do something . . . cheers!
