  The end is NIGH!! The govt is to clamp down on cyber bullying. No more name calling, insults, backstabbing or hurting any other KBer's feelings.:cry:

NO NO , Wait, its an American programme, Sorry fellas, carry on, Bitchiness as usual.

On a serious note, Cyber bullying seems to be a major problem amongst teens. Why do they have to find it so neccessary to have to live with this social abuse, when all it takes, is to switch the damn phone off, or at least delete unwanted texts/ facebook pages.

Unfortunately teenagers lack the self confidence to stand apart and are prime victims. You would hope they have a good relationship with understanding parents who can reassure and support them. This is the time of life when parents really need to get close to their kids and listen carefully to them and try not to be too quick to judge or dismiss their concerns as of little consequence.

Agreed Ed, but not forgetting taking your kids to school finding the bullier, smashing their nose and then going and doing the same to the spawn who brought them into this world with little or no respect either for themselves or anyone else.
Can't keep making more rules, so that gubbermint can dictate how it works, we must do it ourselves.

Because from being a recentish school leaver, we were taught to "walk away and tell a teacher". The second someone does that they are seen as an easy target and they are continually bullied.

There is no "teacher" to tell on the internet, and kids are smart enough to avoid blocks on social media sites. Not to mention the internet has the stigma of anonymity attached to it, meaning the kids can say whatever they like and think they won't be caught. Sure this might not be the case on Facebook where you (are encouraged to) register with your real name, but it does not necessarily mean everyone sees this as some kind of reason to not bully online.

Furthermore, online you are not immediately threatened with retribution. At school if you said something to a poly he'd most likely turn around and give your face a bit of a tidy up with his fists, but online this is either delayed (till they next meet) or irrelevant completely.

It ain't about kids only. Apparently more than half of the crybabies are adults. You know the sort.. Whiny fucks who push THIER personal life message/crusade into the faces of people on the net by spamming and trolling forums preaching their views (often religious and/or political/ moral issues etc) because they believe they are better than anyone else's views. Apparently they get upset and cry foul when they are told to fuck off. This place is full of them. They should all just Fuck off.

So I have to put away the pitchforks do I? Damn. There are a few bullies that deserve the iron poker

But, Cyber bullying is a big issue, and is the reason that a large amount of teens are experiencing signs of depression, and in the extreme sense, the desire to commit suicide. Currently theres no system in place to stop it, because in the big online world. You are Mr. Anonymous. No-one knows who you really are unless you tell them about it, or they know you in real life.

I've heard of a few cases where kids were getting picked on by someone that they thought they didnt know. But in fact it was someone that they knew very closely.

It usually comes down to the fact that people have no self esteem and have to take out that fact on other people to make themselves feel better.

Although, I haven't been on the recieving end of this. (I seem to be a couple of years ahead of the biggest affected year group) I have seen what this can do to people. And its a great deal.

Recently met a woman in Timaru who had her kid subjected to bullying at a local high school.

She confronted the Assistant Head and got fobbed off with all the usual damp squib bullshit.

When he finished his fob off ... she hauled off and smacked him in the mouth!

She told him, ... fix it or there will be some more to follow if it doesn't stop and stormed out of his office!

She went home and cooled down and nervously waited for the cops to call on her!

Long story short ... the guy never reported her but instead got his shit together and fixed the problem!

Since then I have heard that he is now the head master of the school and bullying is fast becoming a thing of the past.

I think she did him, his school, her kid and a whole lot of other kids a big favour that day! Sigh: Long may she live! :niceone:

Personal justice? Maybe; but I do not see the government/authorities taking this to the level that is necessary to stamp it out. At most, the kids bullying people online will get a couple of coppers turning up at their front door to give them a scare.

Adults these days are given a few hours of community service for physical assault, I don't believe that the authorities will hand out severe punishments for what is essentially verbal abuse.

Take away their internet. But even that wont solve anything because the internet is assumed as being a right nowadays.

I find it a bit strange that it is so prevalent, as the evidence is right there in the cloud, every time! Guess it just shows how limp wristed the judicial system is.

All this "anti smacking" shits working out just fine eh.

Try the other side, add a smacking law. So if somebody is being a twat verbally/onlineally, you can go around there, and give em a good smack.

Just like the "3 strike law" for piracy it's as simple as calling a new provider and saying "hey, take my money and give me broadband" to fix that. Plus kids have access to multiple internet access points...school, home, library, cuzzie's house...

No, you can keep trolling, but will receive ridicule and personal attack. Just not from the authorities.

In my school days, bullying meant having your bike taken off you, having to hand over your lunch, etc. Looking back, I cant remember any forms of bullying that involved girls.( no doubt it happened ). Back then, others would, usually, help in some way, go for a teacher, or someone bigger than the bully would step in.

Nowadays, someone being beaten or abused has become 'entertainment' for the onlookers. Girls seem to be more vicious than 40 years ago.

Especially with mobile phones that have built in cameras, and failbook.

Partner's daughter can not have internets at her flat for a couple or reasons...
