Not sure of the final lineup, but Aussies Rex Wolfenden, Robbie Phillis and Glen Kelleher were all mentioned in dispatches as riding that weekend, all good intrepid men. Kelleher will be riding a Wilton-donated TZ and will no doubt be under instruction from his regular entrant Rob Hinton to get after Mr Discombe...:blip:

After? fark that, I need a bender prior to race weekend to kill my remaining brain cells. I have committed myself to swinging in a race, on a classic sidecar.

I just shit myself a little.

But we gonna beat you and Gordie :bleh:

Well entries now closed, & 330 bikes entered, a couple of classes added in to take the huge number entered

8th October 2012, 20:57
But why?
Great to see the numbers, but what is it that has drawn these numbers?
The international aspect?
The Barry Sheene name?
Only old bastards on old bikes have the money nowadays?
Only the one event?
Why do we not see proportionate numbers at modern bike events, but which I mean NZSBK?
Imagine NZSBK with even 200 bikes entered.

Checked in with Kev today,Just to make sure there was nothing more I could for them and see if they had everything under control,They are a bit blown away themselves at the numbers,They thought somewhere around the 240-260 mark,Probably a combination of factors really,A/ Its a one off meeting,B/ Its a new and international meeting,C/ A number of the classic members also have Postie machines so are dragging them along as well,D/ They are also running sidecars,Also they have kept the entry fee as low as possible.

Im pretty sure you already know the answer to all those questions

the fact is the water is running out of the plughole quicker than the tap is flowing to refill it.

mint! all the organizers are doing a mint job, I got a phone call checking where my bike was (biketranz took it not the container with rest of SI bikes) and to let me know my entry pack was on its way etc. Very organized and onto it I thought.

There is a parade on sunday for exotic machines of the era, I beleive a couple of McIntosh bikes, maybe the Britten that will be on display, not sure what else . On Monday there is a public track ride, first 100 bikes into the park ferma, for 3 laps or so behind a named rider, not a track day event, just a slow leisurly ride around to say you have done it. ( sponsered by Triumph ) There is now 10 classes, with alimit of 40 in a race which means most races have over 35, classic sidecars 17, modern sidecars 19
