MC15 motor more specifically. I don't care if it's blown the shared gearbox or has bad compression, stuffed clutch, snapped valve, blown HG you can't be bothered fixing etc. I'm really just after the crank for my spare motor so I can build it up. The cheaper the better cause I'm going to tear it down. If you have an engine in bits with a good crank alone then that works to. Work something out, one man's trash is another's treasure and all that ;)

Ah thankyou. Good having people in the know.

Ideally I'd find another motor to, the lot I bought means I have a bunch of stuff to tinker with.

I've got a spare engine from a VT250F2, 84, not sure if it the same crank, but it ran fine until the rings went so I assume the crank is still good. Let me know if it would fit/suit. Engine is in hawkes bay.

I think it's the same, the spada from what I can tell has different mounting points but otherwise mechanically much the same as well.

How much were you after for that? I'd have to have it shipped cause I'm auckland and my SS would drive me broke making a trip out of it. Spent $150 in gas just to pick the bikes up:pinch:

I guess I'm not in a huge hurry either, I am finding the parts aren't the cheapest for these things but luckily I have most spares.....except a good crank:facepalm:

Hmmmm, whole engine I think 150 is fair (I spent more than that redoing a head before I found a donor engine), or 70 bucks if you just want the crank. Might be able to get it up to you using www.payload.co.nz which is supposed to be heaps cheaper than traditional freight companies, though they don't have a big user base so it may take some time.

That sounds about right, you seem to be well known enough in the forum as well. I'd say just the crank but honestly if the motor is mostly whole they are a bitch to get out and if you were to go that far you are only a step away from being able to re-ring it and make it good for yourself anyway.

I guess the only other thing would be headgaskets, I dunno if they like being retorqued or not. I've got away with it before on other motors in a pinch and if the old post I read is right you had the head skimmed. I feel a whole lot of motor rebuilding coming my way.

I'm doing a math assignment right now but will google up some part numbers and price doing a full rebuild. Pretty keen though even if I sit on it a while till I get around to going full on with it. If you've done some headwork already that is probably the right way to go. Was it just a general skim and tidy or did you revalve it/valve guides? Cause I'm big into doing that stuff myself, saves me some trouble if I'm not fucking about with burned valves etc.

Its been sitting up at my parents for a while, so if you're in no hurry but keen, let me know and I'll bring it over to palmy next time I'm there.

It was about 5 years ago when the motor lost compression, tbh I wasn't a shit-hot mechanic back then and probably shouldn't have given up on it. It was just one head I got done, and I just reused the head gaskets. I can't remember what exactly was done to the head either, I think it was skimmed and had the valve seals/guides done, but with the old valves.

I also have a bunch of parts from a donor VT250FG (I think), and the reg/rect and maybe CDI from the F2 lying about somewhere...

We were all pretty shit mechanics at one time or another. I'll check out what I'm doing with a trip I was planning to palmy anyway, could work out better than expected. I'm going to try flick off my commodore and fix my new maxima so I'm really busy but it's good to have the ball rolling.

But this seems by best bet for having a nice tight motor. Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about perfect tolerances.

I can help find parts if you want, I'm good at that.
Head gaskets are around $50 a side from memory, I can try find them cheaper though.
The Spada heads are different as are the cams.
If you're building up a motor, you'll want to find VT250F2 Integra cams
They are multi layer steel gaskets anyway, so there's a fair chance you can get away with it

Yeah I often get away with some copper coat and MLS gaskets. I thought the spada engines were largely the same, hmpf. Well I'm still picking the jist of things with bikes, not my strong area.

Do you know if the pistons are the same in my motor ducatilover? Because I've got a set ready to go from the bits motor. I might hit you up for bearings and a couple other things if your prices are ok. I'm rearing to go but I don't want to outlay too much just yet, give it a month or so and we'll be ready to rock hard. Love rebuilding stuff.

Pistons should be the same, some models had different compression ratios, but to my knowledge that was all in the gasket thickness
The Spada heads will swap on to the MC15E motors, I cannot tell you how much actual power difference there would be with normal heads + spada cams, but I imagine there would be sweet FA difference :Punk:
I just order parts from overseas mate, not a distributor of any sort, just offering because I'm a GC and have spare time/boredom

Ah that's sweet then, I do much the same thing only with my rally cars.

Seems to be lots of good sorts around here, I guess some of it comes from there being quite a few older members. Many of the sports car forums I'm on are full of backwards cap wearing rip off artists.

Don't be fooled, we're all retarded wankers here :bleh:
Seems to be the way with car culture in NZ these days actually, very disappointing, I'm the only one it seems in the hoodie/cap wearing age bracket who isn't a hoodie/cap wearing Cefiro driving faggot (GN owner though, even worse)

Oh no we're out there, I just try to hide because I drive a lowered VN SS commodore. Have to change that.
