There seemed to be enough interest shown in the recently conducted poll to run a ride on the island so hopefully this will translate into actual numbers.

Note........

Alternative backpacker accomodation for those on a tighter budget is available at the stray possum lodge from $37.00 pp per night. HERE (http://www.straypossum.co.nz/?page_id=3).

This is the place that i had origianly proposed to stay at, but after doing more research i found several bad online reviews about them being unfriendly:argue: and running out of water on a regular basis.
They were also not within walking distance of anything.

But as this isn't the Great Barrier Island Walking Tour, it shouldn't prove a problem...

Stayed at the possum years back.
Seemed ok, but I was with a bunch of piss head fishermen, so I cant remember much.
I survived, so that is a + in my books.:niceone:

As the uptake for this ride has been quite slow , the lady at sunset lodge has asked me to manage the bookings.

So we have to book complete units instead of beds .

If you want to stay here send me a PM and i will group 4 people together then book the unit, unless you have a group of 4 people or want a unit to yourself.

If I was up that way I'd be in, but I can't afford the extra leave to get there and back from here till after christmas. I have to take 9 days off over the break, and I only have 2 1/2 owing at the moment.

Tug Boat, you should be able to click the link at the bottom: "I will no longer be attending this event".

MXNUT, I have fixed the link in the first post so that it doesn't auto-enroll. People just have to click at the bottom where it says "I will be attending this event".

A bit of a story............................

In July last year i was feeling a bit left out with everyone else on KB injuring themselves OFF THEIR Motorcycle, so i "DID A DINO"
and decided to fall off the roof of my house.:stupid:
Ended up with a broken rib, a strained shoulder and a sore knee.:baby:
Well the rib healed up ok, the shoulder is about 90 % and the knee seemed to be geting better.

Untill earlier this year when the knee started getting worse.
After a couple of trips to the :doctor: ( the 1st time he told me that it was arthritis due to getting old, :spanking: ) and then another X RAY an ultrasound and a MRI, he referred me to an orthopaedic surgeon.

Seems that i have a small tear in the knee cartlidge that will need to be surgically repaired.

The reason that i am telling you all this .........

He wants to cut me up on the 5th of december, and this will mean no riding for 5-6 weeks :crybaby:
As i am planning on going south to do the Dusty Butt again next year this will work in with just enough recovery time.

So that means a date change for the GT Barrier Adventure Tour, to before the date of the operation.

So the new date of the ride is Friday November 23rd to Sunday November 25th.

Date changed on the 1st post.

PS........ for those of you who dont know, the term "Did A Dino" refers to a dumb arse accident at home

Well thanks to Eddie and Shewolf's chatter about this on FarceBook I thought I would throw myself in! - My significant pillion is working over seas at the moment and has to check her roster - but you can put me down for a definite 1 and possibly a 2 for this weekend. cant confirm until the work roster gets published on the 28th of October. hope that is OK?
