Hi. I just travelled to Wellington to by a bike and planned to drive it back to Dunedin. Was having trouble holding charge. Wellington motorcycles put a new battery in and then told me it needed a new stator and regulator rectifier. They quoted me upwards of 1200 for new parts from suzuki. I have had a look on electrosport industries and am able to get both shipped for around 350nzd. I am a newbie and have no tools here and on a students budget and need to get back to dunedin within the next 10days or so. Any ideas on a local supplier of second hand parts ? How difficult is it to fit the new stator to the old case, i've heard this can be a pain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

it is not a side of the road job,you will need full tools, and also gaskets where required.

I suggest you leave it to the experts,or ship the bike home some other way and fix it at your leisure when the parts arrive.

Been there done that mate.Had this happen on my wifes 1400 Intruder, had the stator rewound by a guy in Raglan for around $200.00 bike shop deals with this guy and organised it.R/R was replaced with new,i think price was around $480.00.Perhaps Wellington motorcycles can get things sorted for you.BTW,i was quoted $1500 plus GST for a new stator, rip off bastards.
