Celebrating 15 years of the Speed Triple, Triumph’s most successful model, the Company has released a limited edition model, which bears its owner’s, John Bloor, signature on the fuel tank.

In addition, each purchaser of the special edition model will also get an exclusive Speed Triple 15th Anniversary watch as a special gift.

The limited edition 15th Anniversary Speed Triple, offered as a 2010 model, features the unique Phantom Black metallic paint, hand-finished red pinstriped wheels and ‘15th Anniversary Special Edition’ decals on the flyscreen and rear bodywork.

The model is based on the 2009 Speed Triple and comes equipped with a number of additional items as standard, including a colour matched bellypan and flyscreen. Also included is a stylish and comfortable Gel Seat from the Genuine Triumph Accessories range.

“There are very few motorcycles that truly break through and shift design for the entire sport. The Speed Triple is one of those motorcycles,” said Jim Callahan, North American Marketing Manager for Triumph Motorcycles.

“The Speed Triple has been refined over the years for even better styling and performance, but the bike has always remained true to the original concept and has always been one of the most recognized streetfighter style motorcycles. It is one of Triumph’s greatest success stories.”

More than 35,000 Speed Triples have been sold since the model was introduced. Weighing in at 189kg and developing 132PS and 105Nm of torque, the 2009 Speed Triple is the lightest and most powerful version to date.

Just 255 units of the 15th Anniversary Speed Triple motorcycles are designated for the U.S.

Bummer, he should have saved his pennies a little longer and purchased a speed triple.

For some reason the ST devaluation seems to be a tiny bit harsher, Here in Aus they are as cheap as chips.

Im putting it out there at $13402

Money.

I simply don't have enough of it (half a million in debt took care of that), and once I priced up what an identical bike would cost here it made no sense at all.

My Speed Triple is also the Anniversary model. I was pissed-off at what I was offered as a trade on a new Street Triple. I expect to lose some money when trading in a bike but the depreciation on the Triumph far exceeds what I've experienced with my Hondas or the Ducati.

This being the twentieth anniversary year for the Speed Triple there may be another Anniversary model. This will likely cost several grand more than the standard model but when you come to sell it, it'll just be a 2015 Speed Triple. My current plan is just to keep riding the bike, it's bigger than I need but it'll do.

Why would you go from a Speed to a street? Not taking the piss, interested as I would love a Speed.

'Cos I was 70 and was thinking something smaller and lighter might be nice. The seat on the Speed Triple is just a tad tall for me at 835mm; fine on the road, but a bit more of a handful to manoeuvre around the lawn or over rough ground.

The Speed Triple has a great road engine, smooth as silk and power pretty much from idle.

Also I think my math was crap. It must have been 2014 was the twentieth anniversary of the S3?

Ron, exactly the same reason I chose the Street Triple over the Speed Triple, except I'm a marginally younger old fart at 67 now

In fact, it will be 6 years in October since I bought it. I have "Chief Executive Permission" to replace it at the end of the year and it will almost certainly be another Street Triple, albeit an R or RX provided it's not too tall.

Hi

Yeah, I've been banging on about smaller and lighter for a while now. I'm not too fussed about hanging on to my bike 'cause it really is set up for me - other than the size. Suspension both ends has been done, carbon hugger to protect the Ohlins shock, Scott oiler, crash bungs, Tech spec tank pads, air horn, and as one observer said, "One of every electronic acessory know to man." He was joking - I think.

Two out of three. I don't have the screamer. One helmet has a H.A.R.D. system, two have had a speaker fitted. The speakers provide earlier warning than does the light.
If that light comes on you have to hit the brakes quick. The main advantage of the "heads up" system is that it will warn you if the detector is not working.

There were also Oxford heated grips, but they gave too much trouble and I tossed them.

The one thing that I don't like about the Speed Triple (and the new Monster for argument sake) is when you're on one, there seems to be nothing in front of you. You're sitting on it not in it.

Bug screens are there for aesthetics only (oh and bugs:)) I found the smallest Givi for my CB and it took the wind off my head area, but on the CB you don't sit in such a high position like you would on the Speed Triple.
