i need a drink..
This thought has been going through my mind all day .. from before I got up this morning.
The day started as usual…. The sun came up!...
<O:p
My heart went down.
<O:p
I have to face another day, some of you may know what I'm talking about…. But did you know the other stuff?????
1. I got a job…
I dislike it…
do I moan about it to everyone silly enough to listen ??? YES!....:weird:
what do I do about it?? Yep I chuck it in!
and THEN what happens??
2. I get an email from a friend in welly…
” come and work down here” it said .
.”We need you”.. ( well at lest someone needs me!)
“how soon can you get here”
but to move?? Away from here,?
The pay is good…. Really FUCKIN good….
White trash is not there any more..:Punk:
It is doing something that I have trained for and know that I would enjoy.
White trash has left.
There is a bucket racing track there
White trash has left
I'll be able to pop in and see stonechucker
White trash has left
It is closer to Manfeild
White trash……
<O:p
But what am I leaving behind… .. some of you will know ….
Will they want to come with me?
Will they pack up and leave ..with me .. just so I can follow a dream?
Do I cut my loses and start a new… (it will be a great loss)
I also have a great friend here who races dogs also .. saying good buy to them will be hard to…..
WHY IS IT SO HARD THIS TIME TO MAKE THE MOVE????
I'm still young (at heart)
And I know opportunities like this do not come along often in life….
I know in my heart that I will be going…
When do I start packing? Do I just get someone in to do it for me…………

good luck in making a choice.
i reckon it all depends on what you really really want. i mean if its that job that your 6th sense tells will be good for ya, then go for it...
BTW dont listen to me :blah:

hey, it's better to do and regret, than regret cos you didn't do.. or summat like that..
I kinda know what you're going thru. Don't know if you have a full house (and mortgage etc) wifey n kids in tow, but I had similar thoughts coming from England to here. Then I thought fuk it. If it doesn't work out, move back.. least you tried it. Change it good. Else you'll just rot in the same place and smell. Take the jump, you'll have some shit to deal with most likely, and at times even think, what the hell for, but then it'll come clear, and you'll be thankful you did. Else you could look back this time next year (which isn't far away) and kick your arse.
But you have to be convinced it's a good idea. Can't just do it on a whim.. well, not always..
oh, and it was way easier than I thought it was going to be.. don't over-complicate things. just ain't worth the extra trouble

Sounds like me, except I can't chuck my job in (too many financial commitments and I'm too gutless), and there are no job offers.
But (However! Although!) I have changed jobs AND moved to another city three times in the last 10 years. In hindsight, each move was severely career-limiting and cost me HEAPS, but I don't regret the last 10 years. Well, maybe the last five....
But that's not because I took a risk - it's because I didn't know how things would turn out, and didn't know what I had / what I was getting into.
There's no easy answer, like "trust your gut instinct", or "follow your heart". You've just got to weigh it up, do what you think is best, and make the most of it.
That's life.
Crap - that wasn't much help, was it?
Sorry...

I do the "5 year check" thing... in 5 years time - what do you want to be doing - where you are (or would that drive you INSANE)... or there - even if it's not as good as you think...
Your call, and think long and hard.
Your life dude - live it to the max

I've cut my bridges several times, with wife and kids in tow...and had it go all wrong with no going back.I'd be better off today if I had of played it safe....maybe even rich and successful and able to ride any bike I choose, with thick dark hair and no worry lines. It's like tossing a bike into a corner and not knowing if you've overcooked it or not....
Is what you've all ready got cast in stone,or just a nice situation? If it's cast in stone I'd stay,if you're just cosy I'd say get some excitment in your life!

Make a list.
List worst case if you go to Wellington
List worst case if you stay in Tauranga
List best case if you go to Wellington
List best case if you stay in Tauranga
Ask if they will think about moving to Wellington. Maybe follow you down in a few months.
Think about it, and then act. Make a decsion, and then live it. Failling to plan is planning to fail.
Hey you only get one shot at life, it's the longest thing you'll ever do.

We all have dreams/goals that keep us alive (and many Xroads to get there)
but when those dreames are scacrificed too many times life can become hard and so can the person
To be who you are...hold onto your dreams....live them!
Essentally, self-development is an individual task (and well supported)
when individual paths meet again, there are always warm greetings

Dude...hopefully the important person says 'go for it'. However...it's ONLY Tauranga to Wellington. Come down, give it a year or so (it takes a while to get settled into a new place) and then see how you feel. If you're not happy - move back up north.
Change is scary, but it's the only thing that leads to personal growth. And you'll be redefining who you think you are...which is always a good thing (in my opinion anyway). Friends who are important will remain good friends despite distance, friends who aren't (but you don't know it yet) will fall off the radar - leaving you open to new things/experiences.
I'd say do it, but then, with a relocation coming up soon myself, I would!!

AJ, if it were me, I would go.
Was working in a job that was going nowhere then upper management decided to "micromanage" us. I had no other job to go to but I tendered my resignation anyway, trusting that things would work out.
It sounds like you would enjoy the job on offer and it would be good for you in many ways. Ask that important person if they would join you. Think on it and make up your mind - but as others have said, trying is better than wondering "what if" and regretting not having taken the opportunity in years to come.
All the best.

What happened next? Don't leave us in suspenders. I like a good story.
Plus I'm in/at a real crisis myself. I know I should resign from my job, because it's fookin up my health (well, it's already fookd), but I've got a bank and some debts to support, and few prospects of any other work. PLus I dunno what to do next - I've changed careers several times, and each time I've gone backwards.

If the significant other is truly significant, and said person does not want to go and will not move with you, then I don't envy you at all. If your relationship is very strong, and significant other won't go, then ask yourself which you would regret losing more. Been in a similar situation myself. Went to a job that I should have been brilliant at, but I pretty much fell apart at the seams and couldn't handle the job. I should have been very happy where I was, but because 'she' wasn't with me, it just didn't work. Ended up resigning and moving back to Chch.
BUT
At the moment I'm taking some fairly big risks, starting a business for the first time, which I will initially run while holding down a job for financial security. Which would be great.... except I may also be going to a new job, or even more risky, doing what I do now on a contract basis, totaly self employed. 'She' (same one), is behind me 100%. And I have to say, I have not felt this good, this alive, in YEARS. So, if significant other WILL go, then for fecks sake DO IT!

... and?
What happened next? Don't leave us in suspenders. I like a good story.
Well, I looked at buying a bookstore from a friend of mine who was selling up to live the Gypsy life but decided I wouldn't be able to survive on that after paying my rent so I started up my own computer service business, tried self-employment for long enough to discover it wasn't for me, then applied for and got a job at another Tertiary Education provider and started on more money than I was on after nearly 15 years at the last place.
And that's where I am today - until such time as I find something better, decide it's gone to the dogs too much to bear any more, win Lotto or get sacked for spending too much time on KB...
