Thinking about this.

After the 2012 model with lighter wheels. Any one riden one yet?

I may end up buying a house with no garage. Garage build underground is possible but expensive. MT01 wouldnt go up the path but motard would and there is both shed and workshop up the top.

.

That looks like way to much fun. Looks like it would pull wheelies like crazy.

Dont tell my wife that ok.

Edit: That looks like a highly sensible/safe bike that would save money in the long run with cheaper gas and faster commuting.

I haven't ridden a "Maximotard" But I sat on the Ducati 1100 EVO and that bike felt lighter than my 250 and very comfortable.

Can't wait to get my full in a few months then actually test ride these instead of sitting on them in the shop making the noises myself :shifty:

Nice bike, if that 1200 is anything like the smaller Piagio-built mill it'd be a very good thing.

Pity they don't appear to come with a workable warranty, sorta takes them off the table completely for me.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure those handlebars are wider than your MT01, dude.

You'll have to find another excuse.

Might need to ride up 25 steps doing a 180 turn half way up is the issue. I can widen the footpath with a ramp style up the outside with block wall and lights etc but turning the 260kg MT01 with bad steering lock would be risky. Theres a 10metre square workshop at the top. Garage into hill with steps to suit plus deck to house is in the 30k range which is affordable cash but leaves me no monies and cant be added to the mortgage loan. Bike upgrade is cheaper and leaves me furniture cash plus a car upgrade also. Maybe start saving fr garage after that( 3 years of couple of hundy a week.
I can park my bucket racer in works workshop which is on the way to the track so is no issue and also use the work trailer if I upgrade our old van to a car.

Dude, furniture? car upgrade? can you hear what you're typing?

But OK, I used to regularly ride up and down some public walkway steps, not sure if I'd want to do it regularly on a 200Kg nekid sprotbike, though. Still, if, as you say you can widen the corner enough it's simply a matter of practice....

Well, if this is your style......

You wouldn't need to move to Spain either.

2011 run out models avaliabl for 18k. Good saving .

Arrow pipes required also. I have seen the pipes on the 750 in the shop today.
Had a sit. Feels good and good size. Light compaired to the MT-01.

Nice, but it's no SMR.

And as has been pointed out, pray it doesn't break or need parts. Thanks Triumph NZ, fuck you very much.

So you'll need a ground anchor in the breeze?

It's 220Kg, not one of it's strong points, mate.

Still, if'n you like the feel of it who's anyone else to say...

That would be why weight isnt listed in the reviews I have seen.:gob:

It does feel light to me as the MT is a bulky 260kg

Link me up to the stats site that you have.

Well there y'go, 212Kg. Not as bad as I'd remembered but hardly best in class. If we're talking about hyper/ultra motards that'd probably be the KTM SMT: http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/ktm/ktm_990_supermoto_t%2009.htm
I'd say the diference there is that whereas the Ape is one of a quite a few 17" shod road bikes styled as dirt bikes so as to fit the motard marketing frame, teh KTM actually is large dirt bike technology with 17" stickies.

Still, while the Buell is also over 30Kg less than the Ape, it doesn't actually feel like it because it carries the mass quite high. And the 750 Shiver I had a play with, while not quite as porky as the 1200 wasn't exactly delicate either, and yet it felt tolerably nimble in spite of the comparitavely huge rake. So my distain of slightly overweight machines, largely born in comparing dirt machinery is probably a little less relevant for road bikes, eh?

Alot to take in.
I think at 6.4 maybe the Ape feels good due to being tall and since the wife will go on the back im not sure about getting a smaller tard.
You may think wife on back. Is she mad. The answer is--------YES. Her first impression was. that seat doesnt look as bad as I thought it would. Shes done a North Island tour on a SP1 seat with me.

Plus if its to bad it gives me the excuse to build up a touring bike to store at work and swap over for a two up trip and have the tard for myself to play with. At least I made a effort to get a two up capable bike first.
