Dalethorpe Trail ride today

Hi Guys

For the CHCH boys and girls here is a map in pink of the Dalethorpe trail ride today including 3 enduro deviations.

We had good weather, nice damp ground, perfect riding conditions, enduro deviations were not hard :weep: :weep:

Anyway there was enough wet tree routes to make it interesting, all in all a good day :yes: :yes:

When we came down to the river if you looked across the valley that was the back of the Flagpole ride on in two week, that is also a good ride.

I have to say I enjoyed it. I hope there was enough forestry for those that like it :)

The challenge level of the main track in some places was just right for me, as in just made it up the climbs on the first try. It seemed more difficult on the second lap, when things were a bit more cut up.

I had fun on the river bed, got rather wet but thats to be expected.

I must admit I do like forest rides, so much variation in terrain, dont care for the long river ride, wet boots and nothing technical :yawn::yawn:

Neat area though and a good day, apart from my bike getting a little tired and having a wee lay down and taking me with it

I had a bloody good day, knackered thou...arms are shot...the old XR650R gets a little heavy when you are picking it up for the 4th or 5th time!
My favourite bit was the long uphill section immediately after the river, more like what my bike was designed for but I did enjoy the hillclimbs and forest

Oh shit it was an XR650, I thought it was a log skider painted red:eek5:

I must admit you did look a little tired later on but a fair excuse riding the big bike, it would have killed me

On that ride I had a new Michelin Starcross MS3 on the back...got it off trademe for $50 bucks...it's pretty rooted now thou after just one ride! Compound is to soft more of a sand tyre :oi-grr:

What ya have on the front, did ya avoid the dreaded washout ?

Got T63's on at mo, dont think be good enough for trail rides this time of the year ? Prob best going for something with some knobs on side wall. Prob go for Pirrelli scorpian type.

Ya found any good tyres to suit the pig and terrain ? T63's went good on waimak single trails with 14lbs :niceone:

I'm a bit of of a slut when it comes to tyres, don't have a prefered model or make...it's all about price...what ever I can get my hands on cheap, rears don't last long on the XR, to much grunt!
Scorpians wouldn't be suitable for a farm ride, you need offroad tyres not dual sports

Good on ya dude - yep keeping costs down keeps the enjoyment factor :D

Scorps an MX tyre - have had one on front of kx for years - awesome grip
