Just a heads up for those that haven't heard the latest news from NZTA regarding Motorcycle licences:
The BAD NEWS: From the 1st October, regardless of age, all restricted licence holders will be spending 18 months on their restricted. Completing a DDC or Streettalk programme will no longer reduce the time. If you have done a DDC course or street talk before the end of September, it will reduce your restricted time to 12 months. You may need to fill out an exemption form to get your full after 12 months, and as long as you haven't been in a crash, or fined/demerit points from the cops then you should be granted the exemption to sit full after 12 months.
The GOOD NEWS: Lams (Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme) will come into force from the 1t October. The list of approved and unapproved bikes (250's) can be found at www.nzta.govt.nz//LAMS .
Perhaps the bike of your dreams will be on the let.
If you are eligible to get your Full license before the end of September, then DON'T DELAY!!!
If you need any further info, you could call 0800 822 422 on the free NZTA helpline, or PM me or give me a buzz. Happy to advise or help you successfully pass your full.
Of course the other news is that BHS will be changing on the 1st November, and will becoming much harder to pass, with only one attempt at all four exercises. There will be a video on Youtube reasonably soon, which will cover the new BHS. It is just being tweaked a little more, before being made available to the public.
Looking forward to the feedback.
Ride Safe,
Tricia
