Finding an Exhaust for an old Rebel

Heya

Throwing it out there in to the community that I'm after an exhaust set that is compatible with a 1985 Honda Rebel. When I bought the bike the pipes were cut... Turns out because there is no longer a muffler in the line that it wont pass a WOF.

It's currently in the local Honda shop getting a quote but I have a sneaking suspicion to get all the OEM parts (or at least whatever they get in) may cost a small fortune... One I don't have.

So anybody out there able to give me a price on a set or at the very least some friendly advice?

search tard me for a tiumph bonny(2005+) stock pipe and get that adapted. Should be cheap and plenty of them get replaced for louder pipes

Cheers. Should be a straight mount job or will I need someone with a welder?

Also I'm assuming a mounting bracket will be required, right? Can't just hang off the pipe can it?

Depending on how it's cut, you may need someone with a welder, but it won't cost you a heap.

If you're removing mufflers, they are probably spot welded to the headers.

You will need a grinder & replacement mufflers. Depending on what mufflers you get, you may need some machining to have adapters made to fit the header pipe. You may also need a welder if the mufflers have no brackets to mount on the supports.

Then re-chrome, or paint & wrap.


Personally, I'd take the bike somewhere else for a WOF.

Or if you want to be ladylike, wait the 20 or so days they give you to correct the problem. Then go elsewhere. Depends on what is more important, your muffler or your wallet.

it's not often the case as when they log the warrant into the computer if you go to another place they will see the issues, if they choose to pass them and something happens and there s a paper trail it could get sticky for them. Depends on your next warrant places attitude, simple as that
