Afternoon all, I’ve posted in a couple of threads already but thought I should post an official ‘Hi!’.
I used to ride a lot when I was much younger, like early – mid teens younger, whilst hanging out on friends farms. I’ve always had the riding bug since then but parents were religiously petrified of anything two wheeled and motorised, quick to highlight other friends\acquaintances\relatives who had bike accidents. Rapidly approaching 40, I’m over that now, and after spending an awesome 3 days riding around my cousins property in the South Gippsland region of Melbourne, the bug was back and I felt it was finally time to start the licensing process back home which I commenced in May this year.
Adventure riding is definitely my thing, and I tip my hat to the likes of Eddieb whose videos I found on Youtube before realising he was a KB member and fellow Wellingtonian. They’ve provided particular motivation and excitement for what’s really possible out there around this stunning country.
I’m now waiting for 1st October (LAMS) before beginning the search for my first bike. I’m eyeing up the usual suspects in the adventure riding realm - DR, KLR or possibly the XT660Z, although the latter seems a tad expensive when compared with the first two, even second hand. Really looking forward to getting out there at my own pace for starters, learning slowly, gaining confidence on the road and then seeing the country as it should be seen. Hopefully I’ll get to meet some of you guys and gals along the way also.
Cheers,
J.
