Saw you mentioned the treadly in another thread - Mine's getting there. Looking for a suitable bullet tail light currently. Had the rear wheel re-spoked for better gutter hopping. Painted the front.

The balloon tyres are 24x3 so it has roughly the same dia. as 26" wheel.

I'd like to get the Electra frame and start from scratch. I'd do it with 8 speed chain gears, front and rear discs and probably go for a 26" front wheel and mountain bike forks with some suspension unt gaiters.

Toying with the idea of going to the 8 speed hub on this one too, but the performance of the drum brakes probably would need upgrading as well.

I have a nice Kona Mountain Bike too, but I much prefer the cruiser for around here. Done about 1,500km on it now.

Heeeey - I said I have a nice Mountain Bike too. A Kona 24 Speed. It gets a workout around the stormwater course. 2 spots for air. :shifty:

I've got a 8 speed hub and they work really well I think theres 11 speeds out now too. they have smooth as shifting and basically no maintenance.

Thanks - I priced up the conversion to the 8 speed hub - it was around $350.
I think what I will do is convert my 24sp Kona mountain bike into a 'comfort bike'.
I found a cable kit that will allow wide BMX-style handlebars and fit a similar saddle to the cruiser.
Next project.

Ah well, IMO there's nothing more fun than attempting to ride off-road on drop bars.

It's like motorcycles. Much depends on the size of the rider. Try it at 6'5". Drop bars are not below the saddle, they are below my knees :laugh:
