Fat seat for a fat arse!

On the home stretch now to get my bike vinned....one more thing that now requires the hands of a professional as I've attempted to repair and done more damage with the hammer than fix....

Bought some edging trim stuff, (that has the metal brackets inside) as I took the exsisting trim off the bike seat but when I went to put the new stuff on, I smashed it on with a hammer and mallet, found rust flakes were falling off from the underside of the seat....the old trim was falling off so figured I'd replace it and it'd be all good.....nope.....

* This seat has missing brackets to slide under the hooks near the tank, so not too sure where to go about finding these or if I have to get them made up....

* Does anyone know if these seats were fabricated in parts then assembled or meant to be one whole base?

* Is there a wrecker that I can get in touch with to get another seat?

if it's just surface rust, you can strip all the foam and cover off and repaint the base. A wire brush in a drill works well. But if the rust is bad (which appears the case) either find another seat base from a wrecker ... or for some popular models ... a new one as an aftermarket item. Often made of plastic.

Odd/rare models may not have one available to buy.

But an Upholsterer may have better ideas on restoration.
