View Full Version : I had a great ride today

Well this is a biking site, but not many threads about just going out for a ride. Just a quick blast out to my usual spot, radar saved my bacon once, tyres gripped like they were made with ultra-sticky adhesive, bike performed faultlessly, sun was out, just a little wind. But fark it was great to go blow out the cobwebs, forget about work, forget about life's worries. Just me, my machine and the road. If I win lotto (and I'd have to start buying tickets to achieve that) I'd spend the rest of my days riding, every day, everywhere I could go. If anything would define me, it would be my love of motorcycling.

Roll on summer.

Yeah good on ya !
Sick of reading about everything except MC

Just went and dragged me speed 3 out the shed after 2 1/2 years of only riding the HD (apart form the odd track day)

Had a few issues of late with fucked elbows and well, the set up on the HD is all about hangin on so has been causing me grief after 30 or 40 k !

So i made the call and dragged it out on monday, done a short trip down to Pram to visit Randel at Twin cam for a wof, grabbed a bottle of radiator flush on the way (it's only had water wetter in it for the last few years and has a corrosion thing going on) and realised i'd forgot how much bloody fun it is lol (don't leave the radar detector at home lol)

Well after fucking up the radiator flush (too keen to get out yesterday) and copping a small burn on the arm and covering the french doors in corrosive shit (anyone know what might lift it off glass lol)
Yeah Yeah i know better but thought the pressure would have dropped, fuck it must have been hot !
I went out for a hoon hehehe !

Had a bloody ball, looking forward to each intersection, cause i just couldn't help myself and popped one out of every corner lol
I think i did quite well in keeping my top speed down to a realistic level (where i could reel in most of the excess and also re-learn how to ride it) while out there, it was difficult, but i'm older and wiser now and high speed shit is for the track !
I was just enjoying the ride again, breaking in the new touring/race boots was not that much fun but hey ....

Got a bit of a group/day ride on this sat and it should be fun lol not too many sports bikes, so i'll have to entertain myself riding with 20-80 mostly HDs, might shove a pillow in the tank bag seein the wind don't prop me up off the wrists till after harley speeds hehehe

Last night was the best for riding...dry/calm/moonlight ...when you know the road, it doesn't get much better.
Well worth the effort of gearing up ...even for an hour.

All this talking about bikes makes me miss riding. I must fire up the TS185 one of these days and hoon up and down the road a few times.

Great hearing others getting out and going for a ride. Wish there were more 'pointless' threads like this.

Good on you. Unfortunately it doesn't make sense for me to ride the bike the 2km from home to work, so the bike stays locked up in the garage. And while I used to ride everywhere in every condition, incl snow and ice I prefer to use my steed in ideal conditions now if I can.

You crazy fucks, talking bikes on KB!
12 years ago when I moved out rural into the valley where I reside, a old farmer described a road to me, he left the district soon after and I never did find that road, till 3 weeks ago. HOLLY FUCK, think 30 km of personal roller coaster! I did it three times that day, and saw about 2 cars, freaking legend!

No great rides so far this week (all work an no play...but I do have a half day on friday :msn-wink:)
...but getting caught in that storm front on monday afternoon was friggin awesome!!...could have been perfect...except I got caught with no wet weather gear on ...But I did manage to give the leathers a damn good end of winter clean tho :killingme (I walked into the house squelching and drenched through...took two days too dry the gear out fully)

...I actually love riding in storms?

Ride safe KBers and enjoy the sun ;)

Yeah, yesterday must have been a great day all round. Three of us went over to Hamilton from Tauranga. One on a Speed Triple and me on my M50 with a pillion on back. No wind, slightly overcast so it wasn't too hot, just great to be out on two wheels.

Picked up my pillion's HD from the workshop and and the three of us headed home. Left SH1 at the Mobil station alongside Karapiro and cut across Karapiro Rd and Taotaoroa Rd back to SH 29. The other two left me a little behind as I'm a bit of a nana and I'd only been on this road once before and I've found that some of the left hand corners have seal patching that has dropped on the inside edge of the corners - it's OK if you take corners a bit wide of the apex - but they waited a minute or so for me where we got back to SH29. Followed a couple of sports bikes (might have been 250s) back to the base of the Kaimais and had a lovely run up to the summit, got stuck in traffic on the way down but all in all what a fantastic day. Note to self: Must use Taotaoroa Rd more often!

Got home about 2 pm, my pillion texted later that he'd gone out for another run after he'd got home and didn't get back until 5 pm. It was just one of those days.

Has been a long wet winter hasn't it. How are the roads these days, post-quake, around the bays and Akaroa.

Dragged the Z out for a blast on the weekend (I'm sure I heard it ask "who the hell are you" when I went and got it) and it was fan-bloody-tastic. Mrs Berg not quite so buzzy as I was (20,000kms on her GSR since Feb) but also enjoyed riding with me for a change. Another two weeks to wait then its 5 days in the top of the south. Counting the days:niceone:
