View Full Version : Learning about motorcycles

I'm looking for some part time work at a motorcycle garage to pick up some knowledge about these two wheelers. Have been doing basic stuff (brake fluid replacement/oil change/topping up the ol' coolant tank ) on my own bikes but would like to learn more. Most garages want MITO qualified techies :( Wouldn't mind even just helping out someone who's doing a big job on their own motorcycle. I'm willing to work for free (well, knowledge)
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tick

I'd be keen to do something similar - even just getting a few people together to do work on each others bikes etc, even just at peoples places doing forks/oil/plugs/brakes etc? Even cleaning carbs? Every bit of knowledge gained is good. I've been having the help of a few friends but I'd love other input from more experienced guys too if I could.

try coming to smash palace (its on the corner of victoria st and bealey ave) on a Thursday after 6:30, its a biker night and they have a work shop set up. Have a beer, check out some other bikes, meet some new people and possibly learn a thing or two

I have been told by several friends that this is really worth going to, some great bikes there, things you would not expect.

Check out their site: http://thesmashpalace.co.nz/
Heaps of different bikes there from harley's to the quake city rumber's modified 50's. A few weeks ago there was a 1930 Scott 600cc twin 2stroke that was wicked.
