In the latest newsletter they are saying there are big changes coming for 2013.
New track layout, new start gates, watering system, settlement ponds, new spectator viewing, clubhouse improvements and creating a barrier from the neighbors somehow.
Sounds awesome and also celebrating 30 years of existence.
Just wondering if anyone here has the low down??? Any club members here involved?
I'd be keen as would many others to help out somehow, love that place, riding during the week is a treat.

I'm a life member and have ridden there since it opened, you'll normally see me dragging the hoses and marking out the track etc.
The changes are coming for the track because were putting in big earth bunds\stop banks to stop the sound leaving the track and affecting the small number of locals , it's been an on going problem for us costing a large amount of cash and time.
There have been a lot of reports of dirt bikes ripping up local sports fields and green spaces so the local boards behind us to stay open but the residents action group still wants us gone so building the bunds will stop there argument hopefully.

The track changes will take up to 2/3yrs to complete as the bunds will be up to 20 meters high in places and over 1500 meters in length. The bunds will be constructed from fill and stepped to provide viewing points etc.

Sounds like there may be some positive news, lawyers and judges out there last night and smiles all round. Can you fill us in on any facts?
And the track was all time tacky and only 10 bikes.. Best it's been in ages.

Yes the long process has begun, though it's just round 1 at least the Judge and lawyers have visited the track and seen first hand the set up and surrounding areas of concern to the neighbors.
On a sidebar the closed anti track neighbor has been granted a consent to break rocks on his property with a noise level of 50 decibels .

Thought I'd let the greater community of KIWI Bikers know how it went at the environment court hearing.
It's all good have 25 Sundays, 40 Wednesdays, 10 rider training days , 40 mini trail days [ peewees, mini 4 strokes, xr/crfs etc] no mx bikes allowed of any size.
The noise issue is still there along with dust but we can work with that.
John and the team would like to thank the riders for supporting them during the long fight to keep the track open.
All we need now is rain to fill the dams as they are very low.
