What do we think of the new Honda CRF250L?

I saw one on the weekend. Quite liked it as a replacement for my XR200 if I won lotto.

I realize its not a race machine but looks good for my level of trail rides.

Looks good - be a good replacement for my XR250L if I ever get around to doing that. I'll see if I can find a full spec sheet anywhere.

Update: OK there are a few 'ouches' with it - weight and quite a small gas tank but with EFI the claim is frugal fuel use.

Its got the CBR250 motor so fuel injected, upside down forks etc.

It's 30 kilos heavier than an xr200 :(, crf250x might make more sense.

But there a busket load more expensive. And wouldnt the CRF250R be better?

Yeah, but this new one is a dual sport good for the highway. You won't ride a moto-x bike (the CR250R) too far on the highway eh! So bikes for totally different markets.

Your right I think, maybe a CRF250x would be more suited. I only trail ride but would like some power. My xr is a little lacking in that department.

That's my take, though if you can get a efi crf250r they are nice to, but the electric leg on the x is handy :), even if you don't have it now.

Now you're ready to move up from the XR200 you might want to ask yourself, "do I need to be brand loyal?"
