what's a bobo?

A heap of them. Most infractions expire after a very short time and there is no single infraction, other than spamming the site, that results in any loss of privelege whatsoever. Collecting too many may result in loss of ability to pm, give rep etc. More and you may be sin binned. Banning is possible if you get enough, but very rare, except for spamming then its immediate.

The infraction being complained of is the most minor of the lot. You would need 15 of them within 1 month to see any effect at all. Infractions really are no more than a warning that you may have exceeded some boundary and that site rules should be read.

Most members just ignore infractions. Some collect them. Some get all uppity because they have been reminded of the rules.

Thank you for that explanation.
I took my minor one onboard and hopefully I control myself in the future

This should be posted in 'Site Stuff', not R & R. You can get an infraction for that too you know. But I won't this time, might just push you over the edge.

We have a quota system. And the mod with the most infractions handed out every day gets a prize from MT.

Actually we mod's have jobs, families, bikes we want to ride, and very little free time. Just like most other people. But for whatever reason we've accepted the responsibility of helping make the site run smoothly, not for us mind you but for all members, and without pay either. So to maximise the time we have for our normal lives we need to make sure people know where to post, what not to post etc etc etc. Asking nicely doesn't work in a lot of cases, so where it doesn't an infraction gets served.

It's all about perspective. For some people it's the same as a Like on Farcebook

It's a sulky, quivering-bottom-lip moment when somebody refuses to take responsibility for their own actions.

So life in the modern NZ then.

Even I've got an infraction, earned before my ascension. I really did have to try for that one and it took a fair bit of prodding Hitcher with a sharp stick to get it. But once I got it I felt like a proper person, not a leper any longer.

Now, of course, even I can't give myself an infraction let alone anyone else. So when I put something in the wrong place I have to talk very sternly to myself.

But some are very quick to had out infractions rather than just send the post to PD.

You begin to believe that you have made a new friend or that someone likes you.

When you open the mail you find out that a moderator is spanking you for being stupid.

Funny thing is i was given a series of infractions for posting the PG rated pics of the clothed women.

the thing that gets me is their avatar has less clothing than anything i posted?
Maybe the Mod would like to indicate to me which picture should have been censored i bet they can't.....

...love the way it ends with...All the best, Kiwibiker Forums...

Translation...no hard feelings there boss, please don't hate me, I am only doing my 'psuedo' job.

In my experience persistent posting is often the sign of a lack of wisdom...

or an inability to use the multi-quote button, which amounts to the same thing really.

All I included with the last part of your message (which is still there) was a photo of RC holding a laser. The message from Gremlin was that quoting embedded media is against the rules, but despite me reading a thread he gave as a link, I can't actually see what was wrong.

Never mind.

It's an attempt to get a reduction in wasted space by quoted pics. Site rules and all that. Did he give you an infringement too .. ???

From the site rules which is a sticky thread in the Site Stuff forum.

Quoting Embedded Images/Media
Quoting posts with embedded images/media is also a big no-no. When replying to posts containing embedded images/media remove the image/media from your quote.

It seems quite clear to me that when you quote a post that you remove the link to embedded content before posting it.

Attachments do not transfer with the quote as they are simply referenced. Embeded content does transfer with the quote as it is part of the post. That is why thumbnails are better than embedded as they do not transfer with the quote.

It should be stored in a cache (temporary storage bin) which is on your computer so when you view the same image twice within say roughly 5 days rather than download it again using band stuff and costing kb money, it just pulls it out of the cache on your computer which costs no one any extra money.

If they're going to get fussy on bandwidth limiting they could/should stop the emoticons from coming up EVERY SINGLE TIME you reply to a thread and get rid of the adverts cause for all the clicks the adverts have got from me, the additional bandwidth to apparently "re-download" would have cost more in bandwidth than what they'd get paid.

Unless for some reason the cache system doesn't work for posts, but does for almost every single other image on the internet.

First time I got pinged for leaving an embedded image in a quote, I wasn't sure whether it would come through or not. It did. So I came back to remove it. In the few minutes it took to fix the problem, I had been whacked. Somebody must have been looking very hard to see those couple of minutes before correction...eh Hitch?

Infraction, funny little word that. I'd never heard of the damn thing before Kiwi Biker, I've obviously lived a very sheltered life then.

The word infringement is way better I think. It has a certain class to it, more meaning or depth I suppose...

Repeated images are read from the local browser cache aren't they?
Only a few bytes of bandwidth.

You're also forgetting the mess it creates if there are multiple images that are quoted, and you have to scroll through images multiple times.

It's also considered good etiquette not to quote entire posts if they are long, if there is no reason.

Violation has more drama.

Infraction is a term used in some sports rule books.

The three are interchangeable in Dave world. Depends mainly on context.

I have no complaints about the mods at all. I've been banned and severely reprimanded on several other forums for trivial matters such as expressing my views on white supremacy, anti antisemitism and illegal file sharing, while here it's pretty much all good. The good folks at www.cbr250.com even banned my IP address from their website (although I could still troll on there by using a VPN, seriously, just sign up and change your display pic to a swastika and you'll get so much lulz).

Reason:
-------
Ignoring Forum Netiquette

Hi there,

Please be aware that quoting embedded media is not permitted, re your post below.

Please refer to this thread if you require more detail (same rules for Images and Video): http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...mbedded-images
