Hey all, so I am looking at upgrading from my gn250 (finally) and am really quite keen on the Ducati 400 Monster. Only problem being that they all seem to be either in the South Island or Auckland, bit far away for a test ride first to see if it is right for me.

So I get to my question, is there a lovely kber out there in Wellington region with one who would be kind enough to let me test ride theirs? Or even better yet, want to sell theirs?

Don't rule out a 350 Goose (Suzuki SG350). IF you can get hold of one. They are an awesome bike!

Ooooh pretty! Will look into that more after work tonight. Learners doesn't bother me, had my full over a year, just wasn't worth upgrading when I was living in the middle of town as I didn't have much time to spend on longer rides as was studying full time as well as working.

Jellywrestler - yes please that would be great!

It is on the NZTA LAMS list, I wonder if Ducati will extend availabilty to NZ.

LAMS-approved motorcycles are determined by two factors:

a maximum power-to-weight ratio of 150 kilowatts per tonne (the power is that specified by the manufacturer and the weight is the weight specified
by the manufacturer plus 90kgs for the rider and riding gear);

and an upper engine capacity limit of 660cc.

They do look good, don't look like there are any around though! And talking to other people and reading more reviews, I may have been swayed to looking at a bigger one...

That is quite a neat site. I'm fairly short, 164cm. I don't like the really short bikes though, my Suzuki LS400 Savage was too low for me.

This bike is really nice, we used to own it and I lowered it but it is easy to lift it back up. We had a Monster 800 at the same time and this was a better bike. It is certainly worth a ride over the hill to have a look.

It appears a few of the dealers in Auckland area have them, but at $17500 plus on road costs (also the same on the one listed on tardme) it is pretty much double plus a bit of my current budget...would be saving for another year first.

Oh yeah, I will have to have a look at it. Do you know what height the seat is currently sitting at then? It doesn't appear to be on the listing (from what i can see on my phone anyway).
