Not flattened off anywhere and nice and round still. 3mm in the middle. Never had one of these fitted before and it came on the bike when I bought it. Dealer service guy told me it was shot?? Track day next week so was just after some feedback.
Was he just trying to sell me a new tyre......I know these dont have tread all the way around so tell me what you think.

Really, 3mm? Can't see it in the pic, all I see is a tyre due to be replaced. Oh and from your pic it does look flattened off in the middle.

Shit my front tire looked a fair bit better than that and I had a new one fitted on the weekend.
Get it replaced bud, that's fucked. :niceone:

And I found Pirellis and Michelins seem to lose significant grips even before the tyres are as worn out as Bridgestones.
Expensive tyres are cheap insurance, I keep telling myself now.

This ones stuffed, time for a new one, I have used these and even if they they have good tread the compound goes off long before they are completely worn out. Once the compounds gone off they turn into a unpredictable monster, they do good slides when they stuffed which is not so good on the front. I wouldn't use one of these I didn't know the history of.

Definately 3mm in the centre two grroves and the next outer ones. Then 2.5mm in the 3rd ones from centre.

Yep managed a better pic with the rim off and ready to try one of the new S20 Bridgestones. Dont like the sound of unpredicatbility when rubber goes off

That is a better picture, and if I'm honest I would probably ride on that tyre.
Number of heat cycles might mean the tyre is fucked, but you'll know that when your 999 becomes less shiney.

Less shiny is not an outcome i would be particularly proud of! If I was honest I did have a small bit of distrust in the tyre at one point on tauranga direct rd to Rotorua the other day. It just felt a bit weird when cranked over sort of like it was about to let go.

From Power One to S20?
I'd imagine 003RS would be a more appropriate replacement for Power One if you are going to Bridgestone?

It would be if I intended to use the bike for regular trackdays. I am replacing the tyre that came with the bike. Not my choice. It's for mainly road use. I think the tyre was put on just to get a warrant for the sale

For a track day or so, that second photo looks ok-although as Drew said, hard to judge the No of heat cycles. I rate the power ones and have had good results on track with them[clubmans/A group type rider]. Probably not the road tyre of choice-the s20 sounds much more sensible-watch them on the track tho!

Interesting. Have you heard bad things about the S20r's on the track?

Sounds knee jerk to me. Given what we've experienced from our S20s I can't forsee many road bike riders making them do anything unexpected.

They put the s20's between the 023 and the 003. A replacement for the not so popular 016.

I think the s20 would be a fantastic tyre...I like 016s...which have served me fine when my road bike is on the track....however I would not have 016s on my trackbike obviously when I can run super corsas etc. PB have rated the s20s as high as you guys....but comment that they get slippery and a little quick to let go when pushed on the track[and had an expensive realtime r1 woopsie to back up their findings]....obviously a better place for the r10s. I imagine the s20 would be a fine tyre in most situations for most riders, but cant comment from personal experience yet.

The S20 front was great on the track. Now to replace the rear which stepped out a couple of times but was very predictable....Dunlop roadsmart sportmax.........
