Try KazzaLITE, has spyware and pop-ups removed (supposedly)
Otherwise try downloading Mirc. Its free, and you use search engines like IRCSPY.com and Packetnews.com. When you find a link to the song/album you want on either of those sites, click on it and it opens MIRC automatically. Its really good for downloading full albums. (so I am told by people who do this sort of thing) :whistle:

DC++

YOu can search on a directory and download the whole directory, which means you can get an album at a time.

I've been using WinMX for about a year now, I'm not aware of any spy-ware issues at all (I run both Spybot and Ad-aware, and neither have any problem with WinMX).

Very reliable connections, and good user-friendly controls. Very occasionally searches are a bit hit-or-miss, if I get poor results I usually wait a few minutes and try again.

Using limewire at the mo, but if you really dont mind paying, itunes has a music store incorporated. Songs US$0.99 each from memory. A bit dear considering you're not buying anythng physical i.e. CD case, little book with song lyrics etc.

Shareaza (www.shareaza.com) - free, no ads, open source and uses all the networks (Gnutella 1(Kazza) and Gnutella 2, torrents, edonkey. So you don't have to run multiple programs to search and DL.

Used to use Kazaa, then Kazaa lite, both turn crap. Switched WinMX, then after a while it started to turn to shite. It would find hits, but then couldn't connect to a single person to download from.

Apparently that happened to some people.... meh.

Now I use Limewire Pro, very good, except that you still find a lot of the crap tracks for very popular songs (ie the music industry trying to screw things up). But the pro version does say file corrupted, except that after you have tried downloading 20+ versions and they are all bad, it gets a tad annoying...
