Hi peoples

Looking at cleaning my engine so it looks like it has been semi well looked after when I get the carbs done - what degreaser works well for this? I'll do a bit of a polish on the crank case etc too
What do you use for the wheels themselves?

The fairings are shot (cracked, a little faded etc etc) but if anyone has a tip on how to get these clean too?

Hot soapy (Dishwashing liquid) water for the engine, Autosol for the (to be) shiny bits ... and a fine cutter for the paint. Brasso actually works well. (followed by a clean and polish)

Use a plastic dish scrubbing brush with petrol to clean the engine. Hose off with water once finished.

Pot scrubber (the brush type not the wife type) and an old toothbrush. Great for getting in the nook and crannys when cleaning bikes

You did not ask about the 'zorsts, but I will tell you anyway. For stainless steel exhausts use a brass brush that looks like a toothbrush (you get them in the $2 shops). the brass sdoes not stcrathc teh steel and they are very effective for cleaning tar off.

Thanks for the replies - even if no magic 'make it all clean spray' came up. Dishwashing liquid it is then...

As for the 'cleaning' part, I try to think of it as not cleaning but taking some sort of pride in my possessions. And removing evidence.

The exhaust headers I had media blasted about a week ago and painted them with exhaust paint so they look not too bad, and it has an after market can on it which is carbon fibre (or more likely, a look alike), but thanks anyway, might use that on my car exhaust sometime

This is going to sound odd but Pledge Clean and Dust for the fairings, with a clean rag.
