View Full Version : Wellington: Wellington Wednesday Night Cruisy Summer Rides (TCWNR) 2012-13

Welcome to another summer of Cruisy Wednesday night rides!
Rendezvous is at the Elephant Pond carpark, opposite GNS Science on Fairway Drive, Avalon, Lower Hutt.
Pre-ride mingling starts about 6:00pm. Be fuelled and ready to ride at 6:30pm.
A decision about where to go is generally made by consensus, depending on wind, weather, alignment of the planets.
The only designated role holder is generally the Tail-End Charlie. That role is usually held by the last person to leave the car park who may or may not have a cellphone.
This event is not a race. It is typified by its laid backness. All welcome, except squids and wannabe racers. There are other regular summer rides for those folk.
Please be mindful of numbers of riders when choosing an arrival destination, particularly if people want to eat. Small country pubs may not be pleased to see large numbers of hungry bikers arriving unexpectedly on a Wednesday evening.

Hitch, gotta love the squids and racers comments. Lets hope this year the Wednesday night ride has better stats than the Thursday night ride.
If you are riding outside you comfort zone, make sure its only a little outside.

Do you people go for a ride or is the pub the goal? I tested my new seat cover tonight. It's lovely not to stick to the seat, but I may have to do something about the hole in the collector so those people at Ngawi don't chase me with shotguns again.
You shouldn't leave Tuonos out on the road either, it was really hard not to ride into it.

It was a great night good turn out with around 20 bikes at a quick count when leaving the Royal.
Quick shot over to Featherston for a drink and nibble at the Royal then back over the hill.
(Anyone else have cop problems? Had one glue to me from Upper Hutt all the way to Ngauranga Gorge basted made for a very slow ride home )

I returned this evening to the Avalon Duckpond with my VS800 (S50 Boulevard). After a seven month irretrieveable breakdown (where the bike went one way and I went the other) we have reunited. A broken collar-bone, two broken ribs, two displaced ribs and seven months later... The crew in Auckland did an amazing job of refitting and re-commissioning the VS800. And, so today it arrived from Auckland, I immediately reaquainted the bike with Eastbourne and the beautiful Wellington harbour. This evening an early departure (by 10 minutes) from the Avalon Duckpond so as to watch the riders come through at Kaitoke on there way over the hill to Featherston.
Welcome back VS800.
