I think Chch has moved a bit closer over the last couple of years. May require an extra night in Napier.

get it shipped to wanganui and ask the Beast of Blenheim to ride it to CHCH, then apply for the job to escort him, you'll get paid, he'll pay for your gas and as pillion you can have some beers and some hash cookies and enjoy the rest of the trip.
thank me later.

Fly and ride... Interislander cheapest rate is $111 I think, one way, one bike and one adult. Trip should take about 1.5 days, 1 day Auckland to Wellington and then a half day to Christchurch if you're in a hurry. If you're not on a schedule it could accidentally take weeks :innocent: If you don't have time, pay a mate. I normally leave Auckland early in the morning and take a 4-6pm ferry to Picton, stay the night in Tombstone Backpackers (free brekky) then Christchurch, if I have to go direct. Since you live in Christchurch, you could even make it one long day, depending on how fit you are for long distance riding. Conversely, take some time off and enjoy the trip (even take the missus).
Biketranz or similar is your other option, but today I heard of a rental company moving a couple of bikes between Auckland and Christchurch, two of my mates are riding them down... so if rental companies do it I figure they've done the calcs. Only trade off of course is putting 1000km on your bike to deliver...

Ride it is best, but there are sometimes reasons why this isnt workable. I recently had a bike sent from Dunedin to Auckland through BikeTranz. Cost: $400. I've used them before so I might have gotten a repeat customer rate but still, it's worth your time getting a quote. Good people.

BikeTranz, they support our racing efforts and are brilliant. Tell em the sidecar boys sent ya and they'll love it
400 or less should get you Auck to chch with BikeTranz (from door to door, they pick up and drop off to you)
How much gas would you use? bout 1000kms eh? my blade uses about 10litres for every 200kms so 50litres? at over 2 bucks a litre, more like 2.40 so ill just say about 120-140 bucks for gas. with the ferry 150 theres nearly 300 already and then food along the way and maybe a place to stay for a night.. oh and the flight up there.. 50-60 bucks if your lucky on grab a seat or jetstar.. maybe more!
BikeTranz baby!

I have a bike that needs to come the other way.
Maybe we can find someone to take yours down and bring mine up?

Wouldnt you be better to do a ferry swap over. Load but not travel 55 for each bike.
