I found a reference to him on the Wiki (link (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/wiki/Importing_a_used_bike)). Has anyone had any experiences using him? I asked him for a copy of the contract and he said there's no contract, which makes me a bit nervous...

Hey Jondirt... I can't reply to your message as it says no email...

The link to my story is here... http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/89108-My-experience-importing-a-used-bike-from-the-USA?highlight=longwayfromhome

I found Robbie on a website somehow... it was an international travel website with Odyssey in its name... I can't quickly find it now. He was referred to various times there, positively. The arrangements and detail seem casual, and that may make you uncomfortable. It was OK for me and it all worked out.

You might want to try GT Logistics. They picked up my bike at the residence in the states and dropped it off at my door here. I shipped my bike from Atlanta, GA, through the panama canal, to auckland, to Christchurch. It was all handled by GT and they provided me the quote up front (door to door). I did not have to pay GST because I was exempt but, they did provide a breakdown of all the fees. It was right around $2850nz and this was last month.

Keep your original bill of sale and as much paper work as you can. I had a couple of small issues but, no big issues.

Robbie has been bringing stuff in from the states for probably25 years at least, he brought in my old C10 in 1995, i havnt heard any thing bad about him, he used to own the old Harley shop in Dunedin until it burnt down.....most people wouldnt have a clue who Robert Stephens was but everybody here would have heard of Robbie
