Wanting to get an idea of the cost and time involved with some solid work on my carbies.

The bike runs okay, but has a few rough spots where it feels like it runs a little lean, and takes a little while to warm up. Its perfectly ridable, but Id like to get the carbs jetted to the exhaust, and get them throughly looked over, and maybe get the needles replaced etc. The bike has seen about 100 thou.

Bike is a97 CBR900RR, everytime I mention it when im at a bike shop they just ooh and ah and tell me they dont know till they strip them down. I just want an idea of the cost. Any ideas?

Visit the factorypro site & search emulsion tubes (have to dig a little). Pull yours out & inspect them. That's the main part that wears & sometimes the carbs where the slides sit near idle, but that's harder to fix.

Apart from that, seek you a decent dyno operator that carries a range of mainjets. Or just invest in a factorypro jet kit & go from there.

Parts are plentiful in the UK, might pay to eBay them?
Factory pro would be ideal. I'm pretty sure the needles in these and the emulsion tubes were made of cheese

its about 100 per carb to strip clean and reassemble. any tuning or more work above just reassemble and sync will prob cost more. 100 X 4 obviously..

Easy enough to do yourself ;) fun too!
