Got a fairly new DR and I am looking all over on the net for an aftermarket exhaust at a good price although have seen a few threads on DRRiders that say they use old GSXR pipes, has anyone locally tried this or have any better ideas ?

PM phreaky phil next week.
He has done extensive research on the gixxer muffler gig.
Knows the exact model one to use, and has been testing on the T A T for the last two months.:headbang:

The specific GSXR exhaust is now rarer than hens teeth worldwide, though any other GSXR or 4 bolt suzuki exhaust can be used. I've got a TL1000 pipe on mine.

Have a brand new TL1000 pipe if you want it? I got it for the DR650 but it is sitting here looking for a home.
You will need to adapt something but it is do-able as Eddie stated. Make an offer if you want it, as I said brand spanking new!

Custome Exhaust Pipes in East Tamaki, speak to Peter, he does a mean custom built pipe for your bike for about 450 bucks, might be to rich for some, but at the end of the day, once all the farking around is considered, 450 to get it done works for me.

I have a 03 GSXR on mine. its a bit fatter and longer than the 01/02 ones. i mounted it as far forward as I could. they are great mufflers, light and have mechanical baffles so never need repacking. They sound good too. I put an FMF forestry approved spark arrestor on mine before the TAT. It probably makes it a fraction quieter. Kientech sell the midpipe kits for fitting them.

I think the DG O pipe is a lot better idea (and same price or less than just kientech midpipe), although owning one I may be considered biased. Sure you have to repack now and then but no big deal.
Have the quiet insert in mine and noise is way lower than quoted on the procycle ad. Wayyyyy lighter than stock pipe.
