Just in time to see the end.

And he broke the sound barrier without a bike.

Extreme athlete Felix Baumgartner has landed safely after becoming the first skydiver to break the sound barrier in his record 35km skydive.

Did anyone else think that it didn't look that high?
I am not keen on heights at all, Sky Tower gives me the shits, but, stepping out onto that tiny platform probably wouldn't have worried me..
I think its because there was no real perception of height, which is to opposite to say, looking out of the Sky Tower window.

I understand there was a 20 second delay in the ''Live'' coverage incase he ended being a firey ball of crap.

Correct.

Felix was online last night to his supporters and said "tomorrow's the day". Shame about the delay at the start, but the team knew that it was all go, especially on the anniversary of Chuck Yeager's breaking of the sound barrier.

Sometimes. "Awesome!" seems a wee bit inadequate.

Fantastic job he did. And of course Joe Kittinger had held the record for many decades, 84 years old and part of the support team!

I immediately thought of the likes of the early adventurers like Columbus, Scott and Amunsden, the first Cosmonauts/Astronauts, guys like Jeb Corliss, Hillary and so on.

Humans have a need to keep pushing themselves don't they?

So, um, who goes picks up that capsule now he's abandoned it in a no parking zone?
