 I've got some explaining to do now! LOL
Saw this 1986 Yamaha FZX750 Zeal (aka Fazer in US, and "Baby V-Max" to fans and owners) and couldn't resist grabbing it at what is now a great price (just under $2k). Needed a new battery, already has current WOF/rego, 53k kms on it, Battleax front and Michelin rear, great seat (very ergonomic and comfortable), engine purrs at idle and roars when gets going, and it really goes!
My first ride, I hit 150kph before I even realised it and had to throttle back before the boys in blue come after me... Have cleaned it up and it's looking great - still a bit more polishing to do on some of the metal bits.
Best purchase I've made bike-wise!:wings:

Thats good value.
You wouldnt pick its age.
Looks like it could easily be an early 2000 late 90s retro copy.
Those back shocks look interesting.

Gotta love 'em retros...

Yeah... I'm hoping they're just sleeves over regular shocks, otherwise it'll be hard to find replacements or else need to be rebuilt...

Chuck an FZR1000 top end on haha. You could do it with the FZR750s which if I am correct share engines with this

SECA @44pounds a set or Hagon @125pounds a set.
Looks like its a standard shock under a cover and dirt seal.
Tap it and it will sound thin if its a chrome cover I guess. Never seen anything like it before.

Looks like a genesis motor for sure. Same engine covers and starter motor. Looks like Genesis jugs also.

You're not wrong there! I came across a web page where the gent from the UK swapped out the 750 for that engine... Some even swapped in FZR or FZ forks, front wheels, swingarms and rear wheels.

The Fazer you have came out at the time I owned a ZL1000 (Eliminator).. they were pretty damn quick up to a ton (100mph) in top gear 'roll on' after that the ZL would really power away from them. I dont see why you'd want to swap out the FZR750 motor.. this one's tuned for better low/mid power and if memory serves will eat an FZ750 of the era for lunch in a traffic light drag. good motor nice bike! :first:

I have not noticed it doing that so far, and it's really driving me crazy wondering what that red 'Speed' indicator light is for... Now I'll keep an eye on it when I hit 90 or 110kph.

Six... haven't found the reverse yet though, maybe it's been removed?
But nice bike in the flesh.
Thanks... You ought to ride it.
